I’m not crying, you’re crying, stop looking at me!

In case that did make you cry, try this one

Nice little ode to my weird city

I think I’d also like Princess Margaret

A look at Elvis’ own elopement in Vegas (such a place in my heart - we renewed ours vows on our first Anniversary with an Elvis impersonator in Vegas)

The case for male friendship. I have observed that it seems so much harder for the men I know to have the kind of emotionally fulfilling friendships women have without (gasp) having some hobby in common. Here’s some ideas for fixing it (not too different really from the No Book Book Club I do, which is basically gather for feelings and real talk sans homework)

My friend Henry recently mentioned co-star and wondered if I was on it, so of course I had to google to find out what it was - turns out it’s one of a number of astrology apps that have cropped up and are popular with millennials and gen Z. As an Xer, I shall investigate because I do need to keep up with what the kids are into these days

// WORK //

I’ve observed this to be very true - if you can work long, punishing hours, there are a lot of jobs that reward that, especially traditional ones like law and finance. To close the gender wage gap, there needs to be flexibility on where and when work gets done. This is a great humanized version of Claudia Goldin’s research (which anyone doing organizational strategy on diversity and wage issues should read up on, and if you’re not, send it to the person who is)

// LISTEN //

I’ve heard Dax Sheppard’s podcast “Armchair Expert” is fantastic, so I’ve downloaded a few episodes but I’m most excited to listen to the conversation with the relationship expert John Gottman (if you’ve ever discussed your love language it’s because of this dude) (update since noting this, I listened and loved it, Gottman is the master and Dax is charming)

In fraudsters and tricksters again, I’ve been fascinated by an Australian podcast my friend Nhung recommended called Who the Hell is Hamish. Bonus is everyone speaks with a lovely accent so it’s quite pleasing to listen to

PS I use the podcast app Overcast - it’s so much easier to use than the Apple one.

// COOK //

This spring pizza looks amazingly good and easy to replicate

This ricotta dumpling with spring veggies also sounds quite delicious

// WATCH //

If you're a game of thrones fan, this is the best thing you'll see this year

// BEAUTY //

I have to give a shout out to preventative Botox. I started doing it in my early 30s precisely to prevent deep wrinkles from forming and about 10 years later, I can say I think it was pretty darn effective. Also grateful that my Mom kept me out of the sun for a lot of my youth - that probably helped too. But passing on in case this is of interest

Skincare. It’s a topic of debate - I’ve generally been in the school of less is more (also meaning just go big, see eg. preventative Botox above) and barely have anything resembling a “routine”. That said, my friend Rose recently talked me into trying Sunday Riley Good Genes and I swear it’s a miracle tonic. But it’s still all I can do to wash my face at night and put some on. Hence the debate

If you have to sing things Itsy BItsy Spider, here you go, you’re welcome

// TRAVEL //

It’s been a while since I’ve been in the group travel demographic but this roundup of large rentals makes me want to plan a trip with friends

// GIZMOS //

My wedding ring was looking dirty so my friend Rose let me clean it with her dazzle stick, which I’d never heard of, and boy did it do the trick. For $6 you can’t beat this
