1) Resource: SAMHSA Resources for IPV, Child Abuse during COVID-19
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has published this document to provide resources regarding intimate partner violence and child abuse during COVID-19.
"As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Americans are required to stay home to protect themselves and their communities. However, the home may not be safe for many families who experience domestic violence...

COVID-19 has caused major economic devastation, disconnected many from community resources and support systems, and created widespread uncertainty and panic. Such conditions may stimulate violence in families where it didn’t exist before and worsen situations in homes where mistreatment and violence has been a problem."

2) Article: ICJIA identifies criminal justice challenges related to COVID-19 
The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) published the article "The Criminal Justice System and Pandemic Preparedness and Response: Operating in the Age of Coronavirus." This article discusses some of the challenges criminal justice system practitioners must face during the pandemic and offers guidance on policy and practices to ensure their safety.

"The COVID-19 pandemic poses unique challenges for the criminal justice system. Despite statewide social distancing and stay-in-place orders, criminal justice practitioners and victim service providers must, to some extent, continue to directly interact with justice-involved individuals, victims, and others."

3) Thought Piece: Importance and Implications of Deflection during COVID-19
PTACC Executive Director, Jac A. Charlier and John Rosiak, M.A., Principal of Prevention Partnerships partnered on a thought piece, published in The Crime Report, outlining how we can learn from our responses to the opioid epidemic to inform our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Article: Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Weekly

Ben Levenson, of the PTACC National Partner, the Levenson Foundation, talked with the Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Weekly newsletter. Levenson discussed his evolution from thinking about treatment as independent treatment programs to a global systems level approach to health policy, including harm reduction. Also discussed is the potential changes that may come about from the intersection of COVID-19 and the opioid overdose crisis.

Funding Opportunity: COSSAP 2020

The Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Program's (COSSAP) purpose is to provide financial and technical assistance to states, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments to develop, implement, or expand comprehensive efforts to identify, respond to, treat, and support those impacted by illicit opioids, stimulants, and other drugs of abuse.

The competitive grant solicitation deadline is May 21, 2020. The full solicitation is available here.

Funding Opportunity: COVID-19 Emergency Supplemental Funding Solicitation

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ),  Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking applications for the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program. This program will provide funding to assist eligible states, local units of government, and tribes in preventing, preparing for, and responding to the coronavirus. The solicitation can be found online here. Application Deadline: May 29, 2020.
