Urgent message - dogs die in hot cars

Dogs cannot regulate their temperatures and when left in hot cars they dehydrate and die. Even on cloudy windy days the temperature rises quickly in cars despite open windows.

It is illegal to leave dogs unattended in cars and there is a $300 fine.

We are advised to call 111 or report via this phone app when we see dogs left in cars

Despite years of information campaigns some people are coming to Plimmerton and leaving dogs to swelter and die while they go to a café or the beach.

If you see this happening act quickly and call 111

Feel free to remind people that cruelty to animals is not acceptable.
This is very stressful for people to witness and deal with.
