CALLED TOGETHER - Giving, Sharing, Serving 2022-23
Today is the Educational and Promotional Weekend for Called Together – Giving, Sharing, Serving. As in the past, your pledge truly benefits the small parishes, missions and ministries throughout our diocese.

A successful Appeal furthers the mission of our local Church and of our parish and helps others in our diocese with the resources they truly need. We hope that every household in our parish actively participates, a goal that can only be reached with your help.

Please consider your support in the coming week. Not everyone can make the same pledge, but if we all offer our sacrifice, we will truly be successful.

Our Parish Goal is: $19,901
In addition to our diocesan appeal, the bishops of B.C. have asked us to help support efforts to promote healing and reconciliation between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples through a separate appeal. The diocese has been asked to pledge $147,000 toward this important work. Last year, we raised half of that amount. We do not set parish goals for this appeal, but look to the generosity of everyone to make a meaningful contribution to support these efforts.

Please pick-up your (APPEAL) CALLED TOGETHER package located in the foyer. They are arranged in alphabetical order.

We thank you for your continued generous support.

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
We welcome with great joy into our Christian community AMELIE PADERNOS who was baptized on Tuesday, September 13. AMELIE is the second baby of Eduardo III and Jonisa Padernos.

May the almighty Father, who filled the world with joy by giving us his only Son, bless AMELIE PADERNOS. May she grow to be more like Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

65th Anniversary of Marriage
As I visited Manuel and Maria Clotildes at Simon Fraser Lodge today, I found out that Manuel and Maria are celebrating their 65th Anniversary of Marriage on this day.

We thank God for the gift of Manuel and Maria. Their faithfulness to their vows as married couples is another proof to us that YES, it is possible to give witness to the unity and indissolubility of marriage.

Thanks Manuel and Maria for your faithful witnessing to the dignity of the Sacrament of Marriage. We pray for your strength, good health and happiness together.

READERS, ALTAR SERVERS AND CHOIR

The ages or grade level for the reception of the Sacraments are as follows:
  • Grade 2 - Reconciliation and First Eucharist
  • Grade 6 - Confirmation
Meeting with parents of children preparing to celebrate the Sacraments will take place on Sunday, September 18, 1:30 PM at the Cathedral.
If you know of someone who would like to become a Catholic and enter the process of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A), please let Fr. Rector know and he will meet with them to inform them of the process.

REQUEST FROM HARMONY HOUSE
Two weeks ago, Fr. Rector has received the request above. If you are interested to assist, please let the parish office know and we will coordinate with Harmony House.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
If you are technologically gifted and interested to be part of those who are streaming live the Mass, please contact the parish office. We need you.

We are inviting any interested parishioner to assist in streaming the Mass live via Facebook.

Since the time of pandemic, Leonel Caunan and Dennis Roallos are the ones faithfully doing it. But we need more people to learn how to do it so that when they are not available, we will still have someone who can look after livestreaming.

Livestreaming our Sunday Masses helps those who are unable to come to Church i.e. homebound.
VISIT TO THE HOMEBOUND
Fr. Rector tries his best to regularly visit Catholic residents of Fort George Manor (Thursday) and Simon Fraser Lodge (Friday). If you have family members that you want Fr. Rector to visit, please inform him by calling the parish office.  During the visit, Fr. Rector celebrates Liturgy of the Word with Communion. At the request of the residents, he also listens to their confessions and of course, if needed, the Anointing of the Sick.

let them rest from their labours for their good deeds go with them.

Eternal rest grant unto Tony, Marcel, Vincenzo, Alberto and Gibrone, O Lord.
R. And let perpetual light shine upon them.

May they rest in peace. Amen.

May the souls of Tony, Marcel, Vincenzo, Alberto and Gibrone and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Sacred Heart School had a wonderful start to the school year! We look forward to many blessings in the year ahead. We welcomed our new principal, Ms. Becker, back to Sacred Heart following a year at I.C. School. She has worked very hard over the summer to make sure everything was in readiness for September 6th. Welcome home, Ms. Becker!

We celebrated our first School Mass on Friday, September 16th. Each classroom group was presented with an image of the classroom saint which was blessed by Fr. Rector. The theme of the Mass was: “May Your Joy Be Complete”.

On Sunday, September 18th, school staff & families will gather at the 9:00 Mass during which staff members will be formally commissioned for the year ahead by Fr. Rector.

We are most grateful for all the upgrades and improvements which were carried out by volunteers during the summer holidays. Each learning space in the school has new blackout blinds while classroom window frames were refreshed with new white paint. Thank you to those who helped with this work.

Sincere thanks to the Roallos Family & Fr. Rector who watered the school garden during the holidays. You did a super job! The garden will soon be planted with colourful tulip bulbs which we look forward to seeing in the spring.

The first sport program began last week with many students signing up for cross-country running. We plan to enter the annual meet at I.C. School in early October.

Thank you to parishioners for your prayers and support as we begin our 73rd school year! It is interesting to note that we have been educating students since before the reign of the late Queen Elizabeth!
