CALLED TOGETHER: GIVING, SHARING, SERVING, KICK-OFF
Along with all other parishes and missions throughout the diocese, this weekend, we kick-off the Annual Diocesan Appeal: “Called Together – Giving, Sharing, Serving.”

Called Together supports the mission of the local Church across our diocese.

Your gift to Called Together is one way that you can practice stewardship and participate in the mission of the Church.

The diocesan goal continues to be $200,000, half of the usual amount.

Funds raised will continue to go to help those parishes, missions and ministries across the diocese who have faced additional challenges in the past year.

Our Parish Goal is: $ 15, 586

BISHOP'S CAMPAIGN FOR HEALING AND RECONCILIATION
This year, the diocese is also collecting funds for the BC Bishops’ appeal in support of Healing and Reconciliation. This appeal is separate from Called Together and aims to provide funds for projects that support healing and reconciliation between indigenous and non-indigeneous peoples. In prior years, the diocese has tried to meet this need through programs such as Returning to Spirit, the Rose Prince Pilgrimage and through the work of our priests and religious involved in indigenous ministry.

There is no set target for this appeal, but looks to the generosity of everyone to make a meaningful contribution to promote this important work. The form in the Called Together package allows you to designate how much you would like to direct to the Diocesan Annual Appeal and how much to the Healing and Reconciliation appeal. We thank you for your continued generous support.

EVENING PRAYER AND LECTIO DIVINA WITH FR. RECTOR
Last Wednesday Fr. Rector led us in reading Matthew 12: 46 -50. If you want to listen, please click here: Lectio Divina Matthew 12: 46-50.

THE JOURNEY HAS BEGUN
Last Thursday, there were 11 individuals who have begun their journey towards full initiation to the Catholic Church.  They now have entered the process of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.  Regular RCIA gathering will be every Thursday, 6:30 PM in the lower Church hall.

Parishioners who want to join the team are welcome to attend our regular gathering.  There were nine parishioners who have welcome the "inquirers" last Thursday.  It was a good gesture on our part in welcoming those who want to become Catholics.

I am personally grateful of those parishioners who had showed up to support those who want to become Catholics and join our parish community. - Fr. Rector

VOLUNTEER CHURCH WATCH
We are continuously looking for volunteers who can do patrolling at night or early in the morning around the Church and school.

The basic commitment being asked for a volunteer is your availability to go around the Church and school during the night that you will be assigned.  If there are many volunteers, it would mean you will be assigned only once a week.  For now, the current volunteers are assigned two-three times a week because we do not have enough volunteers.  Please consider volunteering.  You may want to speak with Fr. Rector about it if you want to know more about the Volunteer Church Watch.

NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHED

We have launched our new parish website, it is SACRED HEART CATHEDRAL PRINCE GEORGE, abbreviated:

Fr. Rector invites parishioners to consider this new parish website as the main source of information about our parish and the services it offers.  The newly redesigned cathedral website is more appealing, user friendly, and very informative.

Our gratitude to all who laboured behind the scene in bringing this project to a reality.  Bookmarked our site in your browser and visit it regularly for news and updates.

NEW PARISH BULLETIN COVER
Coinciding with our new parish website is our newly redesigned Sunday bulletin cover.  Please see below:
We thank our advertisers who continuously support us financially.  Overall, through their ad, the parish is able to publish a weekly bulletin.  Their contribution for the ad subsidizes the cost of regular printing of the bulletin.
Sacred Heart School hosted our Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday September 16th, as well as our Band Rental Night. It was so great to be able to welcome our Parents / Guardians into our school again after such a long time and feel the strong sense of community that our school continues to offer.

On Friday September 17th, we were able to celebrate our whole school Mass with Father Rector. It was special to be able to celebrate our faith together as one group, and one school family. We are so blessed to be able to do this, and we hope to see more parents and parishioners join us as the year goes.

On Sunday September 19th, we are excited for our first School / Parish Mass where we will celebrate the Commissioning of all our staff for the current school year. It is much anticipated for all of us here to be able to join our School and Parish Communities together once again.

We still have some spaces open in the school, specifically in our Kindergarten and Grade 3 classrooms. If you have a student, or know of a family that may be looking to have students attend our school, please contact the school office for more information.
