SEASON OF ADVENT (from the ORDO)
Advent has a twofold nature: It prepares us for Christmas, when we recall Christ's first coming among us, and it is also a time when we look forward to his second coming at the end of the ages. Advent is a season of joyful expectation.

During Advent, each Sunday's Gospel reading has a specific focus. The Old Testament readings, especially those taken from Isaiah, are prophecies about the Messiah and messianic times. The selections from the writings of the Apostles present exhortations and instructions on different themes of this season.

The following activities and/or parish events are scheduled in the parish this Advent:

First Sunday of Advent
  • November 26 at 5:30 PM Mass blessing of Advent wreath and lighting of the first candle.
  • November 27 after the 9:00 AM Mass, CWL membership breakfast at the hall (lower church).

Second Sunday of Advent
Commissioning of parish leaders and liturgical ministers at all weekend Masses.

Third Sunday of Advent
  • Rite of Acceptance (RCIA) at the 9:00 AM Mass
  • Pancake breakfast hosted by the Knights of Columbus and Bake sale c/o CWL
  • Traditional Latin Mass at 1:30 PM.

GRATITUDE
Fr. Rector sends his gratitude to the following:

Mark and Ann-Marie Macapinlac for their initiative in organizing the Cathedral Youth Ministry. Last Sunday, during the inaugural event after the 11:00 AM Mass, there were more than 25 youth who gathered at the lower church hall. It was good to see, meet and socialize with them. They had faith-filled, and fun filled afternoon!

The team members and helpers and the Couples for Christ - those who provided food and help set-up and cleaned up last Sunday. It was nice to see that there is a team of volunteer parishioners investing their time and effort to animate our youth.

S. Vinda, RVM, Bon Lavarias, Tony Tabora, and Dennis Roallos for their assistance in decorating the church for the Solemnity of Christ the King and in transitioning to Advent season. Thanks for assisting Fr. Rector in making our church more conducive for prayer.
