ML@GT Student Earns Prestigious IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Award

ML@GT and CSE Ph.D. student Scott Freitas has been named a 2021 IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Award recipient. Freitas’ research focuses on applied and theoretical machine learning with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity. Congratulations, Scott!

Study Analyzing Anti-Asian Tweets Shows Online Hate Speech is Contagious

CSE and ML@GT's Assistant Professor Srijan Kumar is leading the longest study to date for anti-Asian hate & counter hate on Twitter. The team analyzed over 200 million tweets, identifying ~1M hateful users targeting Asian groups while showing how hate speech is contagious.

Machine Learning Student Earns Electrical Engineering Award for the Second Time

School of Electrical and Computer Engineering Ph.D. student Andrew McRae has been recognized with the Colonel Oscar P. Cleaver Award for a second time. McRae is just one of two students to ever be a double Cleaver Award recipient. Congrats on your achievement, Andrew!
