Stress, transition, uncertainty, waiting

All those words describe why Shekinah Ranch guests have needed time in the cabin this past year. Stress in ministry and at home. Transition from one ministry to another, or transition from one place to another. Perhaps transitioning to who-knows-what-or-where. Waiting to get back to the field. And then just the normal pressures of life in ministry.

Many of God’s people are tired. We are so thankful for being able to do our part in meeting a great need. We are also thankful for the word about Shekinah Ranch spreading. Thank you, also, for your prayers!

It is obvious that even the low cost of staying in the cabin is more than some Christian workers feel they can afford. We think, however subjective our opinion, that the cabin is nicer than the ones at the next-door resort for ten times higher prices. God has blessed us in many ways. Even though our income is not what we feel we need to operate, it has been enough! We appreciate all of you who have made the commitment to support Shekinah Ranch. If you have a heart to bless Christian workers by providing them the opportunity for a much-needed personal rest and retreat, you may do it
here.

Last fall, a young man, Isaiah, spent a couple of months helping at Shekinah Ranch. Every morning, Don and he would spend devotional time together and then plan the day. Isaiah was willing to do whatever Don asked, and he was such a godsent help to us. He spent a lot of time in the shop, cleaning and organizing. The shop is used enough that over time, things don’t get placed where they belong. So, among other things, Isaiah tidied up the work bench and organized the tools on the wall. What a different it made!

From the guests

One Christian worker, who was ready to quit ministry, wrote after spending a few days at Shekinah Ranch: God met me in the quiet and the stillness … I found a new intimacy with Him I never knew.

Another person, who has been through a lot, wrote in the guestbook: God brought much healing for me in body and soul through time alone with Him and through the wonderful cabin and seeing His creation all around.
