Things We are Thankful For!

Hello everyone! Well, it's November, and nobody projected we'd still be stuck here in quarantine. 2020 has been a difficult year in so many ways, and doesn't seem like life will be changing much any time soon. But there are still so many things we are grateful for, and amidst the struggles and negativity that is currently inundating the world, we at Leap of Joy would like to take a moment to give thanks.

We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have survived this crazy pandemic, and lucky that we've been able to find ways to continue to reach out to the community. We are thankful, and so happy that we're still able to keep going. A lot of that is down to you, our donors, and we would also like to offer thanks to everyone who has helped contribute to our cause in these trying times!

Silent Auction is Still Open!

For those of you who haven't had a chance to check it out yet, our Tenth-Anniversary Gala Silent Auction is still happening! Bidding is open until tomorrow, Friday the 13th. We have a lot of amazing things available, from movie night packages to the Alamo Drafthouse and SXSW virtual passes to yoga classes and tons of gift certificates to local restaurants.

It's time again for our annual Caps & Mittens campaign! Every fall, Leap of Joy raises money for gift bags to give to needy children here in Austin. Filled with cold-weather clothing like scarves, hats, and gloves as well as little goodies, these bags make a huge impact for these children during the holidays. It is such a wonderful thing to be able to bring joy to these kiddos, who might not otherwise have access to these winter essentials.

We'd love for you to consider donating to our cause! There are three easy ways to contribute!

First, you can donate through our

You can also donate via Paypal.

Finally, through tomorrow, November 13th at 1p.m. CST, you can bid on anything at our
10th Anniversary Silent Auction. All the proceeds from this event go straight to our Caps & Mittens campaign!

Director's Note

The past eight months have certainly been one for the books. I can’t imagine that anyone has escaped these dramatic life changes. I hope you are well and have adjusted. I know it has been a very difficult adjustment for us but we have hung in and done the best we can to continue to bring Leap of Joy to our Austin students and all of the new ones we’ve acquired from our Saturday morning class open to all everywhere. We are hoping to continue to expand our reach and add additional classes as we are able. We were delighted to bring dance to the pre-k kids at Todos Juntos this past week and want to continue working with them. We were able to be in person and safely distance. What a treat to be live as all of our classes are virtual for the time being.

We are also starting our online auction on Friday November 6 and it will run until November 13. We have so many wonderful things. Many of which will make great Christmas presents; so please take a look and bid. Our Gala was free so we are hoping to raise the money from online donations and the auction to fund our annual Caps and Mittens project. Each year we have given the kids a gift bag filled with warm winter accessories, small gifts and treats. This year, we hope to add hoodies and sweatshirts to their bags.

Thanksgiving will soon be here and may not resemble those of the past but we wish that however you celebrate and with whom you celebrate, it will be a chance for all of us to give thanks for what we do have and hope that by next year, things will get better. As I write this, the election is tomorrow.  I hope you all voted. I know I did.

Be well.  Be safe and be kind.  With all best wishes.

AISD Virtual After-School Classes

We are pleased to be able to continue our partnerships with Austin Independent School District, Andy Roddick Foundation, and ACE 21st Century by offering live virtual dance classes to after-school students during the Fall 2020 semester. It has been great to see our students again! Though we greatly miss dancing in person, we can still feel the energy from our friends through the screen and we have found ways to use our new performance spaces for some creative choreography!
The holidays are coming up! Don't forget--you can donate to your favorite local charity via Amazon Smile!
