You may have heard through the grapevine that we’ve begun harvesting the fruits of our first growing season utilizing fully organic farming methods. Our Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay, as well as a few tons of Pinot Noir were hand-picked last week. The grapes looked gorgeous, tasted great, and were successfully sold for a fair price. There’s not much more to ask for.

Other than perhaps a tiny bit extra to have and to hold. As luck would have it, we ended up with more Pinot Gris than we knew what to do with. Alas, some 2022 Woven Rosé of Pinot Gris is weaving itself into the future at this very moment. A heartfelt thank you to my friend and mentor Michael Lundeen who not only helps manage harvest logistics but is always willing to do the Pinot Pivot dance with me in the cellar.

The bulk of our Pinot Noir is still hanging on the vine slowly ripening in sweetness and gracefully developing complex aromas, flavors, and texture. Mother Nature has been kind to us by offering warm sunny days that fade into cool quiet evenings. A picture-perfect place for Pinot to mature. The farmer in me simply cannot wait to deliver this bounty of beautiful berries safely into the capable hands of the crew at Pike Road Wines. The budding winemaker in me knows there’s every possibility this uneasy lingering just might pay off in extraordinary ways.

I’d like to take this opportunity invite you to my upcoming wine dinner at Cafe Du Berry on Tuesday, October 25th. We’ll kick-off the evening at Woven’s tasting room in Johns Landing at 5:30pm and then wander next door to the restaurant for a four-course feast prepared by Chef Mike. The only thing better than delicious food, delightful wine, and friendly conversation is weaving them together. I hope you’ll join me for this celebration of harvest and happy things.
