So, did you figure out what a Peace Walk, (double) shooting, and reclaiming space all have in common?

We were pinged EARLY this morning about an initial shooting/shoot out followed by a second wave of shots fired about 20 minutes later near Ralph David Abernathy/Georgia Avenue area.

We don’t have any updates at this time and haven’t heard of any injuries.

WE ARE $10k in!!!!!
for our gun-related Violence prevention mural! The owners of Windsor Plaza have graciously (and finally!) agreed to allow us to RECLAIM this space!

This is SO important because this wall faces the entryway to Dunbar Recreation Complex - a 1) a center point of Mechanicsville, 2) a space with various youth and community serving components (a Sheltering Arms, Elementary School, Parks, Little league teams, the Center for Black Women's Wellness, and MORE), 3)  a HOT SPOT FOR GUN RELATED VIOLENCE. <—we previously undersold this. The Windsor St/Dunbar area is one of THE worst beats for gun-violence in our city.

We are building a safe zone. And we need your help.

Our GOAL is to raise $35,000.00 during #PeaceWeekATL2022 to reimagine this 1,300+ sq ft wall based on the data we've collected from residents during our Guns Down Mechanicsville project.
