EDI WORKSHOP IN ARCHIVAL RECORDS

On November 10 @ 6pm, the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Unit will be hosting a workshop facilitated byMelissa Nelson, Archivist, from Archives of Ontario on “Description & Access for Anti-Black Archival Materials”.  

Description: This workshop is designed to address anti-Black racism in archival records by providing methods on how to create inclusive descriptions and how to provide access to these materials while minimizing harm. This workshop asks participants to think critically about the impact of descriptive and access practices for racist archival records. The workshop includes an interactive activity with space for discussion and reflection.


CV AND PERSONAL STATEMENT EVENT

The career office has its second offering of the CV and Personal Statement Event for Further Education to support students and recent alumni (two years past graduation) who are applying for Further Education will be taking place virtually on Tuesday, November 22 from 10 AM to 2 PM. This program is open for registration via CLNx.  

The CV & Personal Statement Event allows students to tailor their support depending on which stage of the Graduate or Professional School application they are in.  

Students and recent alumni can select and combine the following items: 

  • Mini workshops: Pre-recorded 15-minute workshops available to students upon event registration. Topics covered include the preparation of a CV, Resume and Personal Statement, along with how to ask for references. 
 
  • 1:1 Appointments: Meet with a Career Educator or a Writing Instructor for a 20-min review of your CV/Resume or Personal Statement for further education. 
 
  • Live Q & A and Virtual Gallery Wall sessions: Have questions about preparing your documents? Attend the Q&A session, following each live Q&A session, learners will have access to the Virtual Gallery Wall to view advice and words of encouragement from U of T staff and faculty as they prepare their further education applications.  

 

Students and recent alumni will receive expert advice, feedback and support from Career Peers and Educators throughout the day.  

  

CRITICAL INFORMATION POLICY STUDIES (CIPS)

Join us on November 10th at 12pm for a 1-hour session where we discuss and answer questions about the Critical Information Policy Studies (CIPS) concentration! At this session, you will have the opportunity to meet Professor Beth Coleman, our concentration liaison, who will answer any questions!
