Here's the latest news about the local effort for the ILC in Tohoku (northeastern Japan)
A new liaison council instated to boost ILC cooperation – A new report from Prof. Yamashita

On December 12th, Prof. Satoru Yamashita (specially-appointed professor at the International Center for Elementary Particle Physics of the University of Tokyo) gave an update on the latest efforts to bring the ILC to Japan at a meeting in Morioka City. He reported that he had newly instated a liaison council for ILC-related organizations, research organizations, and local governments as a way to strengthen an “All-Japan” sense of cooperation as we approach the next year – when important plans will be finalized that will directly affect the success of the project.

A full-body experience at the Open Factory Five-Senses Market

I recently went to the Open Factory Five-Senses Market (Gokan-ichi) that was held on November 8th (Fri) through 11th (Mon). This event was held to encourage consumers to check out local participating companies in the southern Iwate region (Ichinoseki City/Hiraizumi Town/Oshu City) in order to deepen their understanding of their products as well as get them a few more fans. This year was the second time the market has been held, so I’d like to talk about how I came to participate in the market as well as my thoughts on the experience.

The Right Info in the Right Way

In this past year, Oshu City has made a big leap forward in meeting this challenge with a new “Life Support Guidebook for Foreigners.” This 11-page guidebook was made by Oshu City and Oshu International Relations Association, with the content reviewed by the Oshu Police Station.

Hakkoda Ski Area

The Hakkoda Ski Area extends from the Summit Park Station on the Hakkoda Ropeway down several 7 km (4.3 miles) long slopes that form from the natural landscape. Hakkoda Ski Area is great for beginners to advance skiers and snowboarders. The greatest feature of Hakkoda Ski Area is the hard rime that develops majestically alongside the fabulous view of Tsugaru and the Shimokita peninsula as well as Hokkaido. The season is from the end of November to the middle of May.
Ski, snowboard, and other gear including ski wear is available for rental. Ski lessons are also available.
