Here's the latest news about the local effort for the ILC in Tohoku (northeastern Japan)
Let‘s spread western vegetables in Iwate!

Though we have posted many articles about the Western Vegetable Project in Ichinoseki, we wanted to give you all an update!


First let’s talk about the “Western vegetables” grown in Iwate. A majority of the vegetables normally eaten in Iwate are western or were brought in from overseas but not all of these are considered western vegetables. Vegetables like potatoes, onions, eggplants, tomatoes and carrots are vegetables that are sold at most stores and are already widespread so they are not called western vegetables.

Sake throughout the seasons

In recent years, Japanese cuisine has enjoyed a boom of popularity abroad, which means that more and more people are enjoying the delights of Japanese sake.
Iwate Prefecture boasts a large sake production industry, and in particular, the Morioka region is full of not just sake makers, but also unique wineries and beer breweries.

This is a holiday celebrated in Japan too, and today, we will introduce, along with some photos of the season in Morioka, a slightly different and uniquely Japanese way of celebrating Christmas.   ★Cityscape lit up by illuminations When December comes, illuminations are installed in areas around the city which brightens the city at night. In Morioka, a large bridge is lit up, giving joy to those who pass by.

About Tohoku ILC Promotion Council

This conference, consisting of industry, academic, and government representatives, has been established to promote basic scientific research and to deepen the understanding of the International Linear Collider, as well as to research and maintain the environment during ILC installation.
