The Tohoku ILC Promotion Council meets with the national government to urge them to make a speedy decision on the ILC

On June 12th, the Tohoku ILC Promotion Council, the Hokkaido/Tohoku Governors’ Association, the Hokkaido/Tohoku Prefectural Assembly Chairpersons’ Association, and the Tohoku Mayors’ Association visited with the Liberal Democratic Party (Japan’s ruling political party) to urge them to make their intentions known on the ILC as quickly as possible.

The Iwate Prefecture ILC Promotion Council pledges to strengthen their efforts to petition the national government for the ILC

he Iwate Prefecture ILC Promotion Council (Chair: Kunihisa Yamura, chair of the Federation of Iwate Chambers of Commerce) held a meeting for their board of directors on June 10th at a Morioka hotel. We are in an important time for the national government’s decision on the ILC, so they affirmed a policy to strengthen their efforts to petition the ruling national party to realize the ILC, as well as do more to spread information about the ILC.

Petitioning the national government’s support for the reconstruction and the ILC – The Governor and mayors of Iwate visit Tokyo

On June 11th, the Association of Iwate Prefecture and Iwate Mayors (Chair: Mayor of Morioka Hiroaki Tanifuji) visited with various national government organizations to urge their support of the reconstruction from the 2011 disaster and the realization of the ILC Project.

A recreational wonderland in southern Iwate
The Association of Citizens Who Strongly Support the Realization of the ILC (a private organization in the Ichinoseki region) held a rally for the ILC at the Ohara Citizens Center in Daito, Ichinoseki on May 24th. Daito is right in the middle of the Kitakami candidate site for the ILC. At the rally, they talked about what was being done to bring about the ILC, and also adopted a declaration, which they intend to send this next month to the national government and the Science Council of Japan to show how passionate the local citizens are for the ILC. The association will continue to strengthen their grassroots efforts.

About Tohoku ILC Promotion Council

This conference, consisting of industry, academic, and government representatives, has been established to promote basic scientific research and to deepen the understanding of the International Linear Collider, as well as to research and maintain the environment during ILC installation.
