I am pleased today to announce our 2021 Charles Sturt Staff Excellence Award Winners and celebrate their great achievements.

I look forward to doing more of this in person next year and really enjoyed my brief trip to Wagga Wagga to visit staff, see the campus and host a number of members of parliament.
We have a final catch up via zoom this Thursday at the Town Hall and I am happy to take your questions in advance via email.

 Excellence Awards announcement

2021 Charles Sturt Staff Excellence Awards

Congratulations to the 2021 Charles Sturt Excellence Award winners and highly commended recipients.

If you know an individual or team who has won an award, I encourage you to say congratulations and recognise their valuable contributions by sending an eCard via RED.

Staff Appreciation Payment

Last week I emailed all staff regarding the 2021 Staff Appreciation Payment.
This is to recognise the sustained contributions of the team at Charles Sturt and would like you all to know that your accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. This one-off $1,000 staff appreciation payment is in recognition of the exceptional circumstances of an exceptional year.
Further information is available in the Staff Hub and I hope this payment helps you and your loved ones enjoy the holiday period.

I am pleased to promote a Provost Office initiative for the final days of the work year - a week of end of year online trivia.

Be sure to go to Yammer and register for trivia with your colleagues beginning the week of Monday 13 December.

Take the opportunity to enjoy some time with your colleagues and meet new staff. They assure me you won't need a PhD to join the fun.

3200 students were conferred (graduated) today and will be receiving their graduation documents digitally as well as having their testamurs posted.  These graduates will now be able to move forward with the next steps in their chosen career.

With everything possible being done to make sure students can progress, a second conferral period on 23 December will take place to take into account delays due to COVID-19 impacted practicums, intensives and assessments.

I look forward to attending in person graduations in 2022.

Student Feedback

I recently heard high praise for Charles Sturt from a new student that I would like to share with you.

The student had been dissatisfied at other universities with the support systems and attitude towards students, but on joining Charles Sturt, felt immediately supported, valued and heard. She noted the incredible level of support from Lecturers, Student Disability Services, Academic Skills Advisers, the Library and Student Central staff who were happy to immediately help her when needed.

It is wonderful to hear how so many of you across the University are supporting the learning of each individual student and how much it adds to their education experience.

Christmas Giving - Staffgive

By making a contribution from every pay, staff have enabled us to target and support areas of student financial need and change lives.

Since Staffgive was established we have raised over $350,000 which has helped over 50 students attain their educational goals through scholarships.

See the Staffgive page on Staff Hub for more information on this worthwhile cause.
