The 2020 Water Knowledge Europe Horizon EU event has successfully ended. This edition was dedicated to the Horizon Europe new funding programme and over six days, we had online with us over 200 attendees who joined us for:
  • Introduction to the Horizon Europe water-related Clusters and destinations 2021-2022
  • 53 B2B meetings
  • 2nd edition of the Water Projects Europe event
  • 17 Working Groups sessions
  • 3 Vision Leadership Team Workshops

What about the upcoming Horizon Europe Programme?

This second edition of Water Knowledge Europe gave the floor to speakers from the European Commission DG RTD and National Contact Points (NCPs) who unveiled valuable information and insights to explain the mechanisms and the strategic framework of the new research and innovation programme for 2021-2027, Horizon Europe (HEU).

Afterwards, the representatives of Water JPI and A.SPIRE presented the programmes and the objectives of two candidate HEU Partnerships. Finally, the RIMA project announced its second open call for proposals. The first day of WKE was concluded by a session dedicated to project idea presentations in the view of the future calls of Horizon Europe.

2nd edition of Water Projects Europe 2020

The newly launched Water Projects Europe (WPE) event held its second edition, focused on Digital Water in the wave of the EC new Priority “Europe fit for the Digital Age”. Andrea Halmos spoke about the European Commission’s digital strategy and how it can be integrated into the water sector.

Five significant EU funded projects followed, demonstrating how their expected results and actions can contribute to building a resilient, green and digital Europe. Ana Garcia Roblés was also there to address the audience on the cross-cutting challenge of the Big Data for the digital transition of Europe. A panel discussion  concluded this new successful edition of WPE.

Working Groups Meetings

Water Knowledge Europe 2020 counted 17 Working Groups meetings throughout the 6 digital days. Leaders and co-leaders convened with their members to discuss their upcoming plans and current activities in their agenda. They successfully opened up a series of interactive discussions bringing extra ideas for white papers but also new project's proposals.

Vision Leadership Team Workshops

During the event, we hosted three workshops organised by Water Europe’s Vision Leadership Teams ‘Water Innovation Systems’, ‘The value in water’ & ‘Hybrid Green Gray Infrastructure’. From exploring what's the latest water innovations to discussions around value in Water and the ways to implement hybrid solutions, these workshops offered great insights on how to overcome the current and future water challenges and move forward achieving a Water-Smart Society.
