"Called to Grow, Share, Serve"

Our Mission Statement
“A family of faith Called to Grow in the love of Christ,
Share that Good News, and Serve the world.”

Dear Church Family,

I want to share with you a wonderful opportunity that our good friends from Rumple Memorial Presbyterian have invited us to participate in.  They are hosting their 3rd Annual Visiting Scholar Lecture Series and it will feature Dr. Christine Yoder, Professor of Biblical Interpretation, from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA.  The lecture series will focus on, “Desiring Wisdom in Turbulent Times,” which is quite appropriate during this odd time of Covid-19.  The good news is that the lectures will be available on zoom and you can join right from home.  If you are interested in being a part of any of the lectures, please visit their website (  and request a zoom link to join. I hope to see some of you online!  Blessings!

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Jeff

Seems like only a short time ago your mission committee was presenting info to you about our work in Chiapas and showing you pictures of our brothers and sisters there. However, that was six months ago and a lot has happened in all of our lives in that time. I would like to give you an update on what is happening with our Chiapan family.

Pastor Pablo and his wife Jan have stayed healthy during this pandemic and have continued to serve their community with Pablo doing online worship each week and radio Bible studies. There have been several deaths from the virus among the pastors in the villages and many deaths in the community at large. They do not have the capacity to adequately test or treat for the disease.

The clinic continues to operate half days by government edict and sees “ a few patients” each day. It is being run by a doctor and nurse.

On a more positive note, the mission church, Nueva Vida, has broken ground on a new building that will house the congregation that we worship with when we are there on our mission trips.

Please pray for Pablo and Jan and their family, for the work of the clinic Manos de Cristo and it’s providers, for the mission church Nueva Vida and it’s members.

REACH for the Fall 2020

Christian Education & Church Activities
Our Christian Education planning teams have been hard at work preparing opportunities to grow in the love of Christ this fall. This September, our REACH programming will involve classes and activities for all ages. These programs will be offered in a virtual format (for now) on various days and times.
Two specific REACH classes will be offered for anyone interested: Emma Lipscomb will be leading a class on Exploring Christians’ Role In and Response To Racism on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm and Herb Hash will be leading a class on The Uniqueness of Christianity on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm.
We are also offering a specific women’s Bible study. Krystal Wilson and Sharon Carlton will lead Keep It Shut: What to Say, How to Say It, and When to Say Nothing at All by Karen Ehman on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm.
There are also activities to keep you engaged this fall! We have a prayer group which meets on Thursday mornings at 10:00 am. The Knarthex Knitters will meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm. And if you’re looking to learn about health and fitness, you can sign up to Move Your Feet and challenge yourself to eat healthier and stay active.
Our Small Group Ministry Program will continue this fall as a part of REACH. We encourage everyone to explore how small group ministry may help to stay connected during this time of distancing. Each small group has a unique study and meets on days and times selected by the group. You can browse the opportunities on-line at the link provided below.
There are classes and activities for our children, youth and college students as well! Recognizing that our students are on video conferencing nearly every day, our respective ministry leaders have crafted classes and activities that are not as Zoom intensive and allow for more family interaction. Details are listed at the link below.
Fall programming will begin after Labor Day in early September. We have created a new page on our website to make it even easier for everyone in our church family to discover the variety of opportunities available!

Let Us Pray Together… Thursdays @ 10:00am
I invite you to join me for prayer on a weekly basis.  I will be hosting a Zoom prayer time on Thursdays at 10:00am.  This will be a time to share joys and concerns and to spend some time praying with one another, even if it’s just wordless groans!  If you are interested in participating please email Steve Marks – and let him know.  We will email you the zoom link information for you to join.
This is open to anyone and there’s no pressure to pray out loud if you don’t want to.   For those whose schedules limit participation at this time, I encourage you to stop what you’re doing at 10:00am and to offer a prayer with us from where you are.  Let us continue to seek God daily, joining together to pray for one another and for our world.  I look forward to praying with you!
Pastor Jeff

A group of us from Circle 2 ( Joan Cone, Susan Corey, Arlene Steeves and Anne Wright) are making masks for use during COVID 19.  These are not medical masks.  If you would like a mask they are in the storage bin to the left of the main downstairs door at church.  Please help yourself.

If there are no masks there when you go, or if you need a special size, please let us know.

Please take care, practice social distancing and stay safe,
Joan, Susan, Arlene and Anne
