Reach… it’s still not just for Wednesdays anymore!

The Reach Planning Committee has decided to hold our fall programming in an on-line format once again. Our fall schedule begins the week of September 13.

What is Reach? Formally known as Reach Wednesday when we would gather at the church for a meal and class time on Wednesday evenings, we are continuing to offer Reach classes and activities at different times throughout the week by way of Zoom technology.

What activities are available? This term we are offering a variety of programs for the entire family as a unit as well as adults, youth and children.

How to be a part of Reach… You will need to register in order to receive the Zoom link for the respective Reach activities you wish to attend. Reach class and activity descriptions, registration information, is available below and on-line. Register using the bulletin insert on Sunday, or go to: www.firstpresboone.org/connect-adults/  to sign up online.

Still have questions? Please contact Steve Marks at steve@firstpresboone.net or by phone at (828) 264-3906.

09/13/21 – 11/10/21

All CLASSES will be on ZOOM this fall.
Register using the bulletin insert on Sunday, or
go to:
www.firstpresboone.org/connect-adults/  to sign up online.

____ BOOK OF ISAIAH: Wednesdays from 7:00 – 8:00pm… We will look at the historical background out of which the book comes, the three main divisions of the book, and the very real probability that there are a minimum of two, and perhaps three main writers of the book. We will look at the meaning of Isaiah for the times for which it was written, and also dig into its meaning for today.
Leader: Herb Hash

____ESL TEACHER TRAINING: Tuesdays starting October 13 at 6:30pm… No experience is required to volunteer as an ESL teacher. This class will prepare you to teach conversational English one-on-one to members of the community who want help learning English. What would teachers do?   Even more than teaching English, we want to be welcoming and share God’s love.  Relationship building is key.
Leader: Alice McRae

____WOMEN’S STUDY:  On Mondays at 7:00pm… A gathering of women who desire to study God’s word together, pray for one another and grow together in Christ and as friends, will meet to look to Jesus as our model for hospitality using Jen Schmidt’s study “Just Open the Door”. Discover how Jesus lived a life full of interruptions, yet always welcomed people and invited them to follow Him. Learn to replace cultural expectations with biblical hospitality to create a legacy of invitation and reflect Jesus through simple acts of service.
Leaders: Krystal Wilson
Mary Beth Walker
Sharon Carlton

____KNARTHEX KNITTERS:  Wednesdays at 6:30pm… Get together for fellowship in knitting and crocheting, sharing knitting tips, patterns, yarn, joys & concerns of members of the church family.
Leader:  Julia Pedigo

~~~YOUTH ~~~
____Harry Potter According to the GospelsWednesdays at 6:00pm… Join Grant to talk about the Harry Potter films and their relation to the gospel.
~~~CHILDREN~~~
____Family Devotion… Devotional Dippers are a fun and interactive way to look at the names and attributes of God and are available for families to use during breakfast time, dinner time, or bed time.  How it works:
1. Families pull out one stick (of 40 sticks)
2. Read the topic of the day Bible passage
3. Discuss the questions
4. Pray together
5. Replace stick with colored tip inverted.
An introductory family zoom meeting will take place Tuesday, September 14th at 6 pm.  Devotional Dippers will be available for pick up from church Sunday, September 12th or contact Erin for another pick up time.

Communion This Sunday!

As we gather to worship this Sunday, we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.  In preparation, if you will joining us from home you are encouraged to gather whatever is common in your home for the bread and the cup.  As we do so, let us remember that it’s the Holy Spirit who unites all of our hearts together as we worship.

Let Us Pray Together… Thursdays @ 10:00am

I invite you to join me for prayer on a weekly basis.  I will be hosting a Zoom prayer time on Thursdays at 10:00am.  This will be a time to share joys and concerns and to spend some time praying with one another, even if it’s just wordless groans!  If you are interested in participating please email Steve Marks – steve@firstpresboone.net and let him know.  We will email you the zoom link information for you to join.

This is open to anyone and there’s no pressure to pray out loud if you don’t want to.   For those whose schedules limit participation at this time, I encourage you to stop what you’re doing at 10:00am and to offer a prayer with us from where you are.  Let us continue to seek God daily, joining together to pray for one another and for our world.  I look forward to praying with you!
