The Session Desires Your Input Regarding Worship
Over the last two months during our “Summer Church” worship services I’ve  had numerous congregants voice how much they enjoyed having a blended service of worship.  Some have spoken directly to me after the service concluded, some sent emails later in the week, others voiced the same sentiments to other staff members and to elders on the Session.  The Worship Committee had a conversation at its August meeting about how many people had commented favorably about a desire to move toward one blended worship service.  It was noted that some voiced they really enjoyed having both styles of music, some shared that they loved being together as one church family, some commented that continuing two separate services after the pandemic made each service feel poorly attended, and others said that they were so happy to see so many children in the service at the children’s message.
The Worship Committee felt strongly that the Session should consider taking a survey of the congregation to determine if these voices made up a minority or a majority of the church.  The Session agreed that it would be beneficial to hear from all our members.  To that end, we have created a brief online survey for you to take to share your thoughts regarding this.  We encourage you to prayerfully consider what’s best for the church as we navigate an ever-changing landscape in the church as we discern how best to move forward from the shockwaves of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Session will review the survey results and prayerfully discern how to move forward.  Your voice is important to us!  If you are technologically challenged, a paper copy will be available on Sundays in the Gathering Space.  We encourage you to take the survey by Saturday, September 24, as the Session will meet on Sunday, September 25.  Click here to take the survey:

Want to join the Bethel Food Locker Delivery Team?
The smart, refrigerated food lockers located at Bethel Elementary School are an initiative of Hospitality House, App State, Watauga County Schools, and the High-Country Food Hub, the goal of which is to make accessing healthy, affordable, and local foods convenient for residents of Watauga County in areas where chronic food insufficiency is an issue.  The lockers at Bethel are the first effort of this initiative.
Households in the Bethel area can contact Hospitality House to be enrolled in receiving free food boxes, and Hospitality House then creates food boxes for delivery to the refrigerated lockers.  Recipients receive a code they use to retrieve the boxes from the lockers.
The program benefits local farmers associated with the Food Hub and helps Hospitality House serve our local Bethel neighbors in need.
Where you can help is by volunteering to pick up food boxes at Hospitality House and deliver them to the lockers located behind Bethel Elementary School.  Total time for a delivery trip is about two hours, and the process for accessing the lockers electronically is easy to implement.
Current needs are for volunteers to pick up food boxes by 1:15 pm at Hospitality House for delivery to Bethel Elementary every other Wednesday, starting September 12 and running through the end of this year.
If you are interested in volunteering or learning more about this effort, contact Russell Headrick,

The EXUBERANT HANDBELL CHOIR is seeking some new ringers this Fall.  We have more bells than we can possibly tend to and need more hands-on-deck.  We are a fun-loving group who have a good time while making music.  You do not need prior experience to join our team.  If you read music notation and have always wished to play an instrument without putting in hours of practice, this is your chance to do so and get to know the “Ding-A-Lings”.  A bonus is you only need to tend to a couple of notes on your own staff!  (Whoever heard of an instrument that easy?) Everyone else will ring the rest and happily help you learn to ring yours!!
