Stewardship Dedication Sunday
Worship at 11:00am
By now you should have received information regarding our proposed 2022 budget.  If you’ve had a chance to look it over, you will find that this budget is focused on getting back to the 2020 budget we had prior to the pandemic, with a few personnel adjustments.  All of us desire for life and ministry to become normal again, but I feel like becoming normal is what we make of it rather than wishing for things simply to return to the way they were.  Despite all the challenges we’ve faced the last year and a half, God has still been in control and at work.  The church has been challenged to find new ways of doing ministry, new ways of connecting and engaging with one another, and new ways of giving of ourselves.  The good news is that we’ve stepped up to those challenges and continue to do so to the best of our ability.
Epidemiologists seem to believe that we may hit a crucial mark of herd immunity in the coming months due to vaccines and people having natural immunity due to contracting the virus.  I hope this is true, but I certainly can’t guarantee it.  All I know is that we have hope; hope that we may see this become no more than the flu in its effects on society down the road.  But we also have hope because we know that God has not abandoned us, and that God has blessed in numerous ways throughout such a challenging time.  We have hope because we’ve gathered back to worship together in person in the safest ways we possibly can.
As we reflect on where we are versus where we were, we have much to be thankful for.  In God We Trust.  As we prepare for our Stewardship Dedication Sunday, I encourage you to prayerfully consider how you can give back to the One who has given so much to you.  Our giving is an act of worship, a way of saying, “Thank You,” to the God who cares and provides for us.  I encourage you to come for worship with joyful hearts to pledge your lives and your gifts to the Lord, so that we may faithfully share the good news we trust in, and that gives us hope no matter what.  For our collective giving is a testimony to our community and to the world that our trust is in the Maker of heaven and earth!  See you Sunday!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jeff

A Return to First Light and Traditional Worship Services
Sunday, October 24
The worship committee made a recommendation to Session to restart our First Light Worship Service at 8:45am starting on Sunday, October 24.  The Session approved the motion which also means that our 11:00am Traditional Service will restart that day as well.  Over the last year and a half, we have had one worship service as we’ve broadcasted and returned to in-person services.  I’m grateful for the ways in which our staff, and volunteers pulled together to make this work in an uncertain time!  Looking ahead, we are attempting to bring back the services as they were pre-Covid so that we can return to some normalcy.  This move doesn’t eliminate us having combined worship services on occasion as we have done in the past; we will certainly have those for special occasions.  Returning to two services allows for folks to worship freely in the service they feel most comfortable with, and it also provides more distancing as we continue to provide safety for Covid precautions.  In addition, we will livestream both services for those who cannot make it in person.  Mark your calendars and join us on the 24th.

Let Us Pray Together… Thursdays @ 10:00am
I invite you to join me for prayer on a weekly basis.  I will be hosting a Zoom prayer time on Thursdays at 10:00am.  This will be a time to share joys and concerns and to spend some time praying with one another, even if it’s just wordless groans!  If you are interested in participating please email Steve Marks – and let him know.  We will email you the zoom link information for you to join.
This is open to anyone and there’s no pressure to pray out loud if you don’t want to.   For those whose schedules limit participation at this time, I encourage you to stop what you’re doing at 10:00am and to offer a prayer with us from where you are.  Let us continue to seek God daily, joining together to pray for one another and for our world.  I look forward to praying with you!

"In God We Trust":  Tithing

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it”                                                                       Malachi 3:10

This verse expresses both a command and a promise. We are commanded to bring the entire tithe and test Him. The promise is to receive so much blessing there will not be room enough to store it. The act of tithing further depends upon three closely related elements; (1) trust in God to provide for us personally, materially and spiritually, (2) commitment – a concentrated resolve to trust in God, and (3) obedience to follow through with the commitment.
We have often heard that you cannot out-give God. Malachi 3:10 is the written proof. How like God to bestow extra blessings when we are obedient. Take an inventory of what you have been given, and then prayerfully consider giving proportionately. The 10% tithe is a good place to begin, but always allow the Holy Spirit to be your guide.
