#finance
The go/no-go from the city (realisatieovereenkomst) is postponed to early summer due to the ongoing negotiations with the municipality to gain access the new fund for living coops that will hopefully be released in June. Because dNM offers 40 housing units all with social rent, the mortgage given by the bank is limited and needs to be integrated with a secondary loan from the city of Amsterdam.
With the crowdfunding we achieved our April goal, reaching 50% of the total amount of €450.000. We are thankful to all our supporters for the great participation to collectively finance the construction. The next milestone is to reach €300.000 - ⅔ of the total - by the 21 June and start the summer with a great celebration!!! If you haven’t done so yet, you can buy bonds via our crowdfunding page. It’s something comparable to a loan, the full amount will be reimbursed after 5, 10 or 15 years topped with interest. Donations are also possible.
In the future, when dNM will have all debts repaid, some of the money that will be accumulated with social rent will be used to maintain the building and operate the cooperative. All the rest (we will harvest more than €300.000 yearly) will be used to support new housing cooperatives. In supporting dNM you are creating sustainable affordable housing for the future!
#media
De Nieuwe Meent is one of the "Woonpioniers" (living pioneers) shortlisted in the VPRO competition! The 3 most voted projects will be rewarded with a short documentary. It’s a good opportunity for us to show everyone that a new way of living together and self-building housing is possible. It takes only a few minutes, click here to vote.
On the 3rd of May, Niels will represent our project in the discussion at Pakhuis de Zwijger about “the Future of Oost”. You can watch it online starting at 20:30, here is the link.
#community
In preparation for welcoming the new members, #community is working on a series of workshops around the basic concepts and structures of dNM, in collaboration with other workgroups. These workshops are planned for the month of June and will be open for everybody.
