I want to take a minute and say thank you to everyone that attended the USHL Home Opener this past Saturday, and hopefully everyone had a good time. Unfortunately the game didn't go our way that night, but it was a great atmosphere for the team.
As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out and ask. I am fairly busy in the evening being on the ice with the players, so please email me or you can always call me.
Halloween Parade October 27, 2018 On October 27, 2018 we will be having a float in the 2018 Cedar Rapids Halloween Parade.
We will be handing out candy and information about the Try Hockey Free event on November 11th. With that said, we are in need of volunteers to be in the parade (players and a few parents) and assistance with building the float. The event is less than 10 days away and we need to move quickly so please email me today if you are interested:
Try Hockey For Free Referral Plan
I am presenting ALL RRHC families the opportunity to be a part of this community and have a difference in our growth. I have told many families this before, but real growth will occur through you, the membership, sharing events like Try Hockey For Free and sharing stories with your friends and other family members about our program and the direction it is headed. With that, I am going to provide you with a chance to help us grow while giving your player a chance to attend our spring and summer camps. If you refer a player(s) to Try Hockey For Free and they show up your son/daughter will receive a $15.00 coupon that can be used for any of our 2019 camps. If that referred player goes into any of the programs at the rink then you will receive a $30.00 coupon redeemable at any 2019 camp.
When players check-in for THFF they will be asked if they were referred and by whom and we will track that information. Following the completion of the event players will receive their certificates from me to save and use for the spring or summer.
The Board of Directors voted to remove the Green and Black contract. This was a decision that was based upon the feedback from you, the membership. However, with that comes a collective commitment to filling the necessary hours at the home tournament. If any position has to be filled by outside volunteers within that age group than a $25/hr fee will be assessed to the teams. Being new to the association the Green and Black Contract has been a huge point of contention put forth by you, the membership. We listened to your complaints and dissatisfaction with this aspect of the Club. Now it is up to everyone of you to ensure that we can keep it this way for all current and future RoughRiders families. Do not miss this fantastic opportunity to help create a culture of collective commitment in our community.
Pictures will be on November 14th.
Next payment for the season will be processed on November 1st, 2018.
House Hockey - RYHL & IP
The November-December session of RoughRiders Youth Hockey League (RYHL) and Instructional Program (IP) is now open. You can find all the necessary details on our website:
Purpose of RYHL and IP The RYHL and IP provides an opportunity for all players of all abilities to receive the necessary instruction to improve their understanding of how to play and skill acquisition. These two programs are "house only", which means there is no traveling involved. I have been told there is some confusion on the difference between our travel and house programs. Within RoughRiders Hockey Club we have travel and house programs that are different, but are all overseen by me as the Hockey Director under RoughRiders Hockey Club.
The over all mission of RoughRiders Hockey Club for all programs and teams is the following:
The mission of RRHCCR is to provide a consistent climate and culture to optimize the skill development of young players in a positive atmosphere of fun, competition, sportsmanship and fair treatment. We will strive to create great hockey players through teaching of what it means to be a positive citizen of society.
