I LOVE seeing all the creative homeschooling, the family devotions, and the actual stillness in our homes. I hope you're enjoying the materials we have been providing via social media to add to your family devotions, and thank you for participating in our card-making outreach. We have collected almost 130 cards to send to nursing homes and shut-ins. We have a box outside the church that you can continue filling up throughout this entire quarantine so we can keep reaching out to those who need love during this time.

We have had to change the way we will do our family worship night. We are supplying every family with a supply bag to drive by and pick up next week. We will still do this night of worship virtually, similar to the way we have done Sunday videos. We will provide a video of the worship, then you will use your bags to make resurrection eggs and go through the true meaning of Easter and why we have victory in Jesus. We recommend you finish the night off with some type of fun dessert - like root beer floats - since that was what we were going to do. Be on the lookout for bag pick up details!

WEEK 4 BIG IDEA: God made me to do great things.

Follow the link for the this week's video lesson

Small Group Questions to use after the video lesson:

  • What did the master (or boss) in today's story want his workers to do with the coins he gave to them?
  • What did the master say to the first two workers?
  • Why was the boss angry that the third worker buried his coins?
  • What did God give us that is represented by the bags of gold?
  • Do you ever feel like God didn't give you enough special abilities? What are some you might want?
  • How can you grow the talents you do have?
INSTRUCTIONS: Hang large pieces of paper around the room and write a heading on each of them. Use headings like: "I can do something great through..." (1) Sports (2) Music or Dance (3) Drawing or Making Things (4) Computer or Video Games (5) Math (6) Cooking or Baking (7) Something Unique (if anyone selects this option, ask them if they would like to share/demonstrate). Give each kid a stickers or markers and have them put the sticker on the paper where they think their talents would be best used for God. Give them time to draw a specific thing on it...ex: sports - draw a soccer ball; math - draw an equation...

Say This: Let's look around.
  • Why did you choose the talent and gift that you chose?
  • Not only do you have these gifts, you have people you can connect with through these gifts. Who are some people you can share Jesus with through these talents?
  • Do you think this will please God, having us all use those gifts God gave us to do great things? I think so, too.
Re-read Ephesians 2:10. What are some "good works" you can do this week?
Everyone loves a good game of Charades! Choose different talents people have to act out with your kids. Determine your rules, make
suggestions for how they can give hints ahead of time so everyone is on the same page. Ideas for things to act out: jumping, cleaning, shopping (you know you want to dance the shopping cart, ) mowing the lawn (even better - the sprinkler), ballet, playing guitar, etc. Have fun acting out different talents!

Do you have a cool story about something that's happened at home so far? Reply to this email and let us know!
