February 26 2019

Hi there!

This past weekend, your BEquinox staff spent two days in California City working on their safety and emergency response skills and learning how to put out all the literal and metaphorical fires. Lots of thanks to 51, Scott, Widget, and all the folks who put together an incredibly useful set of workshops and trainings. We feel even more ready and excited to welcome you to your new home and can't wait to see all your beautiful faces and art there!

If you know of other meetups or burner events happening anywhere in the region, let us know!

Hey you! Have you been looking for a way to get more involved with the local burner community? Love people and social activities? Are you a great host and activator? Is there a great venue you want an excuse to spend more time in?

We’re always looking for more people to host local meetups in all parts of the region. Meetups are often held at bars but can also be daytime affairs at parks, activity-based (hikes, sewing circles), etc. We love having consistent events so people know where to go on a regular basis to find their community, but if you’re interested in hosting a one-off event, that’d be great too.

If you’re interested in hosting a meetup in your area or have a great idea for a venue, let us know at and we’ll happily support your efforts!

As BEquinox gets closer, we'll be providing important and useful information to prepare you for the new venue. A survival guide will also be posted at soon.

At Joshua Tree, you had the luxury of some of the amenities the campground offers year round: power, picnic tables, burn barrels, kitchen sink, and water spigots.
California City will not have those amenities.
There will be no power or water available.
Ice and firewood will be available for sale.

Today, let's talk fuel!

  • Generators must be kept 10 ft from ANYTHING flammable, including your RV.
  • Generators must also be kept 20 ft from your fuel.
  • Please have secondary containment for your fuel to assure there is no fuel to ground spill. Fuel storage must be 10 ft away from any spark / flame source.
  • Bring your own burn barrels, no ground fires.
  • Please store your grey water and take with you to dispose of.
  • Additional details can be found at

We are compiling a list of theme camps and art projects that are seeking volunteers. Theme camp leaders and artists, please fill out this form if you’d like us to post your opportunities for community members who’d like to get involved.

*You don’t have to be an “official” theme camp or project to fill this out -- if you’re just looking for collaborators on a project and want to see who’s out there, go ahead and fill out the survey. The goal is to create a publicly available database of volunteer and collaboration opportunities so people can quickly and easily find each other and plug into the projects that speak to their particular interests and skills.
