Snow is in the forecast, and we are taking the necessary steps to be prepared. Visit the National Weather Service for a more detailed forecast.
HOW WE PREPARE
An anti-icing agent has been applied to arterial streets to help keep snow and ice from accumulating or bonding to the pavement. Public Works crew members have prepared equipment for plowing operations. If heavy snow is predicted, crews will switch to 24-hour operations.
HOW YOU CAN PREPARE
Stock up on your essentials and have your shovel ready to keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice. Please clear sidewalks as soon as you can safely do so. Check in with neighbors or family that may need a helping hand. Please limit travel, when possible. If you ride the bus, visit intercitytransit.com for any potential snow detours or service alerts.
WHICH STREETS GET PLOWED FIRST?
When the City of Olympia clears streets of snow and ice, our first priority is to keep lifeline roads open. These are the main routes that fire, police, and transit need to use. Primary and secondary roads will only receive treatment once all higher priority roads are cleared. We ask for your patience as our crews respond to snow events.
HOW TO SAY INFORMED
Updates are shared through the City’s Twitter page – follow us @CityofOlympia. During major snow events, we will post occasional updates on the City’s web page. Follow our progress clearing routes by checking the City’s live plow map at olympiawa.gov/snow.
Community members can report areas of concern or limbs and trees in the street by contacting Public Works Dispatch at 360.753.8333, Option 0, or publicworks@ci.olympia.wa.us. Roads will be addressed based on City resources and street accessibility.
