City seeks community input on diversity and equity Commission.

The City of Olympia invites the community to share their perspectives as Olympia creates a new Commission to advise Council and staff on diversity, equity and inclusion. The new Commission’s development is led by marginalized community members, with an emphasis on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Five focus groups will be formed to explore the needs and interests of these community members. The input from the wider community also is crucial.

All members of the community are welcome to engage with this process in the following ways:

  • Share your experiences and ideas around race and equity in a survey or brainstorm, open today through May 24, 2021.

  • Sign up for the all-community conversation on May 22, 2021—register here

The information gathered from the community will help decide the Commission’s formal name, scope of work, membership, and first-year work plan. Expect to see the Commission in place this fall.
