made me think of the painting above, which I did many years ago, and is still one of my favorites.
It also brought to mind this song:

by Stan Ridgeway, who you may know better from Wall of Voodoo, and their hit song Mexican Radio.

Camouflage and disguise is important in the animal world, for both hiding from predators, and for stalking. Humans use it for the same reason, but have to use things like paint, or cammie patterns, or ghillie suits.
