Welcome back to JCI Scotland's monthly newsletter!

Well, February went by quickly, didn't it?
The evenings are getting a little lighter and many of our daily walks now feature snowdrops and, hopefully soon, some daffodils.

If you're reading this and you haven't been outside today, how about you grab a cuppa and head out for a walk? Even as little as a brisk ten-minute daily walk can be invaluable part of a healthy lifestyle.

March is looking to be quite a busy month for JCI Scotland! Read on to find out more about what we've been up to and what's to come in March!

Website Changes
- Introducing JCI Alba & Corporate Partnerships

First up, you'll notice some changes on JCI Scotland's website (with more in the coming months)! The biggest change right now is the introduction of JCI Alba, our new online Local Organisation for members based anywhere in Scotland. Online membership is set at £70 and if you join in this first year of JCI Alba, you'll receive 20% discount on your membership. Email for more details!

The other major change is a revamp of our Corporate Partnerships material, which is the first step in rethinking our approach to partnerships. Special thanks to JCI Edinburgh member Jenni Brodie for writing this new content on behalf of JCI Scotland. A great example of our members pitching in!

Join us for the virtual JCI Scotland 2021 National Conference on March 19th-20th!

We will be diving into the story of Scotland, taking you on a journey from where we've come from as a nation to the role that young professionals play in shaping the future.

Together, we will explore our place in the post-Covid world and the opportunities and challenges to overcome as the leaders of tomorrow.

With a full schedule of panel sessions, workshops, debating and socials, this year's conference is sure to be an inspiring and exciting weekend!

Tickets are available until 18th March 2021 for as little as £15.

JCI Scotland's Strategic Plan - taskforce required

  • Are you into long-term planning or a wiz with strategic planning tools?
  • Do you want to contribute to the growth and development of our national organisation?
  • Is strategic communications and engagement your cup of tea?

One of our major goals for 2021 is to put in place a long-term Strategic Plan for JCI Scotland. As well as setting our strategic direction, this will help future National Presidents, their teams and members to understand the JCI Mission and Vision, and what these mean to JCI Scotland and the values we espouse.

Since JCI is a membership organisation, we'd love for our long-term plan to be driven by our members. In the coming months, there will be many opportunities for you to share your ideas and opinions. And right now, there is an opportunity for you to take it one step further - join our strategy taskforce!

Headed up by Danielle Grieve, Director of Strategy & Finance, and National President Katie Black, this taskforce will deliver the entirety of the strategic planning process - from initial engagement with members, to drafting content, and ending with launch of the final strategic plan.

JCI Scotland is well-known for our love of debating and we want this to continue throughout 2021!

JCI Scotland's National Conference will feature an informal international debating competition on the morning of Saturday 20th March. This is an opportunity for our Scotland team to put their debating prowess to the test against other international JCI teams.

Speaking of teams...we need to finalise our Scotland team and will be hosting a Scotland-only debate competition at 7pm on 17th March where Local Organisation teams will battle for the Scotland Trophy and the top 3 debaters will be asked to represent Scotland. More information will be available on our website event page soon.

Now, we realise that we have some new members and also members who are just new to debating, so to help you get to grips with it all, JCI Glasgow are hosting 'Debating for Beginners' at 7pm on 11th March. Register Now!

And lastly, JCI Scotland will also be hosting a European Debate Academy on 23-25th April - save the date!

Finally...check out all the AMAZING events we're bringing to you this month!

Remember, no matter which JCI Local Organisation you are a member of, you are welcome at all events across Scotland and internationally. So get out there, network and learn!
