Autumn / Winter 2019 update

Our development and reaching a milestone...

Congratulations to all of our members! With our AGM all wrapped up, we welcome all our new and returning members to the Living Well UK charity. We look forward to working in partnership with you to develop mental health and wellbeing services that support our community and grow our social enterprises, charities and community interest organisations.

As you'll know, Living Well UK is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) aiming to work towards the relief of sickness and preservation of health, with a particular emphasis on mental health, in principally (but not exclusively) the Midlands, by:
a) providing psychological therapies and counselling;
b) providing education for organisations and professionals in the mental health field; and
c) promoting research for the public benefit and to publish the useful results of it.

Between 8 August 2018 and 3 December 2018, the charity was engaged with the members of Birmingham Mental Health Consortium regarding the transfer of that entity into becoming a trading subsidiary of the charity and the consequent transfer of its members across. This report therefore covers activity undertaken subsequent to the transfer of membership and the establishment of the charity and trading subsidiary as a group. The charity had no activity prior to that transfer.

GRANTS AVAILABLE UP TO £5K:
CALLING ALL MEMBERS TO APPLY NOW!

As a result of 2018’s EGM, we were delighted to follow up on our actions and set working groups as requested by members to develop new opportunities and grant schemes covering: social prescribing; schools and young people's offer; and non IAPT.

Since January 2019, members were invited to join these groups and look at best possible ways to improve our mental health and wellbeing services in community. Nearly 12 months later, we are delighted that thanks to the commitment of various dedicated members of the consortium, we are now in the position to move forward and action many ideas that were developed out of these working groups.
At the beginning of this year, the three working groups were set up, and listed below are all the members who have been at some point participants in the group meetings and shared knowledge and learning. As part of the agenda, members now have submitted grant applications for various innovations as well as training and development programmes for each of the working groups that they were part of. The first cohort of these application have been submitted to the board of Living Well UK for approval.

We are now calling the last cohort to be
submitted by the end of January 2020.
This is open to all our members,
so please get your applications in!

The mobilisation of the service is due to commence on 1st December, 2019 and will   initially focus on Diabetes MDT’s, as these are better established across BSOL CCG with the service building when further LTC MD’s are developed. Active roll out will begin from 1st January 2020.

Bsol CCG have commissioned a new IAPT LTC service to cover both Birmingham and Solihull. This will be delivered by the Living Well Consortium (LWC). Our aim is embedding LWC workers in PCN MDT to offer IAPT support to patients who are suffering anxiety or depression as a result of their long term condition.
IAPT LTC Service: Notice to all practices in Solihull

This is in addition to the Core IAPT service currently provided by BSMHFT & LWC in Birmingham and CWPT in Solihull.

• Core IAPT will continue to be provided by CWPT for patients registered to Solihull GP practices. - so if CWPT therapist are providing Core IAPT services from GP practices this will continue.

• There will be no impact to the Core IAPT service in Solihull by CWPT.

•  The national for IAPT LTC pilot previously delivered by CWPT has ended, so from the 1st December the Living Well Consortium will be providing IAPT LTC in Solihull.

•  This is part of a phased roll out of LTC IAPT which will take place over a period of time. In parallel we will continue to expand access to core IAPT in line with the ambitions of the NHS Long Term Plan.

The service will endeavour to see patients as locally as possible. We hope the service will deliver from the surgeries and embed into the team. If not the provider will identify alternative room provision. The LWC will inform practices of the new IAPT LTC service in the near future and working closely with localities and PCN’s to over the coming months in relation to expansion of IAPT.
