Update on After School Clubs: Closed March 16-27 (incl. Spring Break)

Dear Current JUGHEADS Families,

In the late afternoon of Friday, March 13, I received an email from Rev. Tom Cook, the Rector (lead priest) of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church informing us that all church activities have been canceled through Sunday, March 29. We have been asked to comply with this in keeping with St. Stephen's efforts to mitigate any possible spread of the coronavirus.

Therefore, all JUGHEADS after school Clubs are canceled for March 16-20, 2020. I'm working with Coach Erica Liddle in deciding whether or not to hold Ultimate Club at St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 19, as that option is open to us since St. Peter's is remaining open at this time. However, as St. Peter's (among other facilities) is unable to accommodate our after school Clubs, I'm canceling Advanced, Elite, Thursday Rec., and Friday Rec. both out of pragmatism and in a spirit of "an abundance of caution," a phrase with which many of us news junkies are all too familiar.

One blessing is that the two-week shut-down of St. Stephen's coincides with our company's planned spring break of March 23-27. Barring any extension of St. Stephen's shut-down, and/or any further developments of COVID-19 in the local, state and national scene, we're praying that our regular weekly schedule of Clubs will resume on Monday, March 30.

It's best not to speculate beyond the next two weeks as to what may happen to our schedule, whether our JUGHEADS-based activities or those of any other venue (schools, sports, arts, churches, etc.). Therefore, as much as it pains me as Director of the company and Director of Juggle Jam 22, this one-week shut-down prior to Spring Break is necessary. Let's all pray that this is the only set-back we'll receive in our ramp-up to JJ22, let alone in the myriad of other spring activities completely unrelated to JUGHEADS.

We're all suffering together—if not physically, then in the disappointment of inconvenience and perhaps even fear or at least frustration. However, may this time be seized to catch up on rest (the topic of my March "Paul's Platform" was planned months before the outbreak began), family time, and a deeper appreciation for our daily conveniences and scheduled activities which are all too often taken for granted as guarantees rather than gifts.

May the Lord bless you all as we work through this. I sincerely hope to see our Clubs resume on Monday, March 30 after our scheduled Spring Break
