Welcome back to the newsletter that's usually highlighting what's new and exciting at the blog. Continuing from the last newsletter, I'll talk briefly about what I've been reading online lately that's music-related.
Vice.com's David Anthony published a well-researched "guide to getting into Napalm Death" which might be helpful if you're interested in giving the band a try and don't know where to start. (Napalm pic from 2009: D.U.)
Rage Against The Machine put a statement about tickets and prices at its tour website in which the band talked about trying to control prices, fight scalpers, and donate some tour proceeds to worthy causes. Well, tickets at the first of two RATM shows in Washington DC start at $125 from Ticketmaster.
A striking quote from a Washington Post story by Drew Harwell about iheartmedia DJ layoffs is, "While the job cuts may sound 'inhumane,' they made sense from a Wall Street perspective ..."
On SyFy (and now Amazon)'s The Expanse, there was an "Eros" club song from season 2 that doesn't appear on the offical soundtrack. A couple of SoundClouders have grabbed and mixed it. Rock it:Joey Cramsey Music's version andDeep Inception's version.
