Monday 28th March 2022,

Kia ora Bradford Whānau,

Working Bee Appreciation...
A MASSIVE THANK YOU to Royce, James, Marama and Craig who all came along and gave up a weekend afternoon in their busy lives to help out with our garden working bee project.  We are so grateful for your very fine efforts!

The shrubs and trees whilst attractive greenery were encroaching more and more on the pathway and unfortunately not looking their best needing continually trimmed. Clearing that area has also increased safety with the gate now visible from outside the office. It is fantastic to see the amazing condition of the mural that was painted back in 2004.

If anyone else in our school whānau is interested in helping out now and again with school working bees then please let us know - many hands really do make light work!  Your help also frees up some funds towards initiatives for our tamariki if we can undertake some of this work ourselves.

Covid Update
With an increase to a dozen positive Covid cases in our school whānau during the past week, we have decided to continue with our two pods for this week and then reassess the situation on Friday.   Aside from their primary goal of trying to reduce an outbreak, the pods are effectively limiting the teaching team all becoming ill at once which would then force the school into online learning.

We are also asking that caregivers continue with our gate pick-up and drop-off staggered times for this next week to see if we can hopefully break the circuit.   All going well we would look to have whānau back in the school next week (outside the classrooms please).

However, with the end of the term fast approaching, we were heartened to hear that lifted restrictions mean there is no longer any limit on outdoor gatherings.  This means that we can welcome the community in for our next two planned outdoor events.

We have our school Cross Country on Friday 8th April and then we are having our very own Duathlon the following week on Wednesday 13th April.  Both events will take place between 11am and 12:30pm.  Further details will follow.

Term 2 Sports Registration Reminder
Notes have already been sent home for those that have expressed an interest in playing Miniball, Hockey or Netball for Term 2.    These are due back at school by Friday 8th April please.

Raffles Update
All the Easter raffle cards are now out in the community, but we still have some Firewood cards left if anybody is able to sell any more please.  Second and third prizes on the Firewood raffle are Prezzy cards.  These are due back on Thursday this week please.  We sincerely appreciate your support towards our akonga.

Kia ora everyone,

The PTA will soon be packaging up our annual Easter Egg Raffle hampers. Thank you very much for the donations to date.

Easter eggs, chocolate goodies or salty treats are still able to be popped into the box in the foyer this week if you would like to contribute.

Room 6 have been learning the Ukulele under the expert tutelage of our very own Dawn.
R1 and 2 enjoyed sharing a story called the Hundred Decker Bus last week.  We created our own multiple decked bus as well as hopping on the bus to practice our addition and subtraction for maths.  I don't think buses get any cuter than this!
Ghazal from R4 took advantage of the lovely weather to do some buddy reading with one of our very recent new entrants Theresa.
Before our wonderful team of gardeners...
Entry to the School will remain restricted through the gate by the Library and we shall also continue with the staggered finish times.   Please phone Sonja on 4536 254 or Emma on 027 559 4616 if you need to make an appointment.  We are happy to deliver your child to the gate if you require early collection.  Please be advised that the office is not attended on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons so early notification is preferable where possible.

Bradford's Board of Trustees is looking for whānau of our tamariki who are interested in being a part of our School Board.

This is a great way to be involved in the running of the school and have a greater understanding of the work that goes on behind the white board.

So if you feel you would like to be involved or would like to find out more information please contact the Board Chair;

Craig Earl

Bradford School's Enrolment Zone officially ceased at the end of last year.  What this means is that we can return to accepting student's from beyond the Bradford boundary that may like to join our special place. In the past, it has been really heartbreaking having to turn away prospective families who were not in Zone.

If you know of families who are interested in attending Bradford School we encourage you to please let them know we are now accepting students across all year levels for 2022.  Equally if you have a younger child who you are intending to enrol, we ask that you please let Sonja know so we can put them on our list.  This forward planning assists greatly in our staffing and classroom configurations to ensure we deliver the best adult to student ratios we can for our tamariki.
