A challenging year, with positivity ahead
Spring feels long behind us, but here at Pelargonium for Europe, now is the time to take a good look at our year in review. With support from our partners around Europe, 2020 has seen some excellent results, despite this year’s difficulties. We have reached more countries than ever, and seen fabulous coverage on TV, in the biggest magazines, newspapers and more - reaching millions with your pelargoniums.
In this newsletter, you can find all 2020 results in our Stakeholder Info Pack, as well as the very latest photos for 2021.
2020 marks the start of PfE's first ever EU-program, so our promotional activities have been benefitting from subsidised EU funding. With Covid-19, it got off to a challenging start. The global pandemic had a big impact on planned activities, with some being postponed or cancelled with budgets saved. However, various plans were adapted with strong and agile responses.
For example, PfE held a special partnership with radio stations to offer plants for elderly care homes in Germany, PfE featured on a special Covid-19 TV show for the elderly in Poland, and PfE quickly designed digital graphics to support retailers promoting plant deliveries in countries where shops were forced to close. See our Covid-19 crisis strategy.
Looking to a bright future for horticulture
Despite the ongoing difficulties, we are optimistic that flowers and plants will continue bringing joy to people around the world - especially as so many millions have discovered them for the first time this year.
To all breeders, partners and colleagues: thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation, we look forward to working with you in 2021 and beyond.
Wishing you all
A joyful Christmas and successful new year!
