TCV Weekly News: 19th November 2020
Kia ora koutou

Morning All!
Hope everyone's week is going well.

Starting on a personal note - I would like to let you all know that I have made the decision to finish with Tairawhiti Community Voice at the end of November. I am going to be investing more time into my own personal ventures looking forward into a new year.

We have had an amazing year together!  Coming into this role a year ago I set out a number of goals for myself and TCV that I hoped we could achieve together. We did just that!  Over the last year we have seen steady growth as an organisation.  We have reached over 36,000 people on Facebook with our 2020 Video Series.  We have had a variety of guest speakers to our network meetings.  The Newsletters have got more engagement and subscribers.  Our AGM this year held at Taiki E! along with the presentation of the Nan Evans Award for 2020 awarded to Betty Stephen was a milestone for myself, the Executive Committee and Tairawhiti Community Voice as a whole.  Although I will be officially finishing next week, I plan to be in attendance at our last network meeting of the year to say farewell to everyone.

The last network meeting for 2020 is on the 14th December from 12.30-1.30pm at GDC Council Chambers.
New venue for 2021 Network Meetings (as GDC is no longer available) will be advised in next weeks Newsletter.

A quick message from our Chairperson, Liz Graham
I would like to Introduce and Welcome on board our new TCV Coordinator - Tracy Bacon.
She will be attending the Network Meeting in December and is looking forward to meeting all those in attendance.

Reflection time - Gisborne Herald Article 'Party Atmoshpere at Memory Walk'  17th November 2020

The annual Alzheimers fundraising Memory Walk on Sunday was enjoyed by nearly 150 people.

There were 67 walkers on the seven-kilometre-long Wainui Walk and 82 walkers on the Dementia Friendly Walk at 1.5km, making 149 in total.

“This is the biggest number in a couple of years,” Alzheimers Gisborne-Tairawhiti manager Tracy Robinson said -

“we raised $2874.60 which included the income from the sausage sizzle, face painting, bouncy castle, henna painting and T-shirt sales.  Not only did it generate an income for us, it created a real party atmosphere.  There were also lots of spot prizes donated by Mitre 10.”

She made special mention of the Collier whanau who won the major prize of a gardening package for the biggest family entry.

“There were five generations of Colliers at the Memory Walk.”

Alzheimers Gisborne-Tairawhiti was also grateful to major sponsors - Mitre 10 Gisborne."
