Parents/ Guardians, learners and friends…

The Fun Run weekend was an amazing success again. Thank you to the many, many parents, learners, extended family members and friends who supported this event. Well done and thank you to the staff of REPS (as well as members of their families) for the enormous effort and sacrifice that went into making this fundraiser another event that surpassed our expectations. Well done and a huge thank you to Mr Turner and his Fun Run team (committee) who worked so hard to co-ordinate this event. Thank you to the many parents and other donors whose generosity allowed us to maximise our profits. Thank you to the parents (SGB and general parents) who worked so hard to help us on the day. It is amazing to witness the REPS family coming together when most needed. There are so many facets to the organizing of this event, that it is difficult to really highlight everyone who made meaningful contributions in this newsletter. Therefore, we will be hosting a special Thank You event to acknowledge the individuals or groups, quite soon. (Date still to be confirmed.)
Then on a sad note – Last Monday was the second attempt at electing two parent members to serve on the School Governing Body. ONLY 23 parents turned up for this very important meeting! Congratulations to Mr M Botha and Mr Padua who were elected on the SGB.

Letters for our “Meet The Educators” will go out during the course of this week. Please complete these reply slips and return them as soon as possible. The later you return them, the less your chance of getting an appointment in the indicated time slot. The letters will be handed to the eldest and only.

Five of our athletes competed in the WP Championships at Dal Josephat near Paarl on Friday last week. We are very proud to announce that they did very well and Zahraa Cornelius and Ruzanno Abrahams made the WP Team. These two learners will now compete in the Western Cape Championships this coming Saturday and our best wishes will accompany them.

Please note: Due to the fact that the Foundation Phase is writing assessments, there will be NO extra-murals this week for Grade 1-3.

Have a blessed week.

It has been a rollercoaster ride at athletics so far this year. We had loads of preparation and little time.
Well done to all the athletes who’s made it to participate at the Western Province Championships in Paarl on Friday. We have two athletes who have made it through to the next round at the Dal Josafat Athletics Stadium. They will represent Western Province this Saturday (7th March 2020).
Congratulations and good luck to Zahraa Cornelius (4MS) for first place in high jump and to Ruzanno Abrahams (5LS) for long jump,100m and 150m sprints.

A very big thank you to all the parents, friends of the school and REPS staff who helped in the run up to our annual Fun Run and also for your help and support on Saturday 29 February 2020. A huge thanks to all in the REPS family who supported our day. Your efforts definitely contributed to the overall success of the 2020 REPS Fun Run.
The following are highlights for me

  • Parents came together and completely ran the selling of liquid refreshments on the day thus freeing up REPS staff members to be utilized elsewhere. The Mobi can was supplied by Coke.
  • Parents manned the end point of the Race issuing medals and refreshments to runners who completed the race.
  • Staff and parents worked like a well-oiled machine ensuring that the food stalls sold quality food at affordable prices.
  • Thanks to the friends of the school, who completely ran the Novelty store.
  • Thanks to the assistant staff and friends of the school who ran the kiddies rides, field entertainment and incentive spot prize giveaways on the day.
  • Thanks to all parents and sponsors of incentives and donations your generosity is appreciated.
  • Thanks to the organizer of the stage entertainment who kept families entertained with school, as well as local talent on the day.
  • The sound on the day was amazing, thanks for the help and supplying of sound equipment by parents.
  • Thanks to the bursars’ office, as well as our very own School Governing Body who ran finances.
  • Reps Staff who ran late registration and voucher sales.
  • Thanks to the running club Topform High who assisted us with marshalling thus ensuring the safety of all those who ran.
  • Thanks to Wynberg Girls High School for managing our water tables during race time thus ensuring all participants stayed hydrated.
  • A specials thanks to disaster management services and Colonel Van Wyk and his team at SAPS Lansdowne.
  • Mr Dean Oliver Senior Traffic Officer from Traffic Services and his team.
  • Last but by no means least our REPS ground staff team. They are our ROCKSTARS making sure that all the nuts and bolts are in place before and way after everybody has left. We truly appreciate you.
