Parents/ Guardians, learners and friends…

The last week of a very strange third term! History has been made: coming to school every second day, wearing masks in class, temperature taken daily, hands sanitized regularly during the day, no hugging and high fives, and, and, and. Think of what our children can one day tell their grandchildren!!
As usual, the reports for term 3 will be available on the last day of school – in this case it will be on both Thursday (Blue group) and Friday (Red group). More history!!

After several requests and different motivations, the SGB has decided that our learners may continue to wear ordinary clothes (Civvies) until the end of the year. We believe that this decision will help parents towards getting the uniforms ready in time for the start of the new year.

Linked to the above: it is usually the case that the photos are taken in school uniform (5 and 6 November next term). This year we are going to leave the decision to the parents to make. The children can wear either their school uniform or “civvies”.
A huge thank you for the parents who supported the CHOC drive so far. Orders can still be sent to the school until Wednesday, 21 October.
Annual Budget Presentation:
Parents are reminded that the 4th term is also our Financial Planning term. The Annual Budget Meeting will take place on Tuesday 10 November 2020. The draft budget will be available for scrutiny from 21 October 2020. This will be available via the front office. Official documentation with more details of this process will be sent out today and tomorrow as well as a soft copy in this newsletter. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in this process and be part of our future planning. Please make sure that your child returns the attached reply slip. The return of these slips will be indicated on a class list to monitor that all slips are returned.

Also be aware of the fact that strict COVID 19 regulations will be followed. More information about this will be shared with you closer to the time.
Your attendance is vital to the future of our school.
Our final rounds to identify the best spellers for the various grades took place on Tuesday and Thursday last week. Our parents that came to support their children also became part of history since they were the first parents allowed into the hall during lockdown.
A REPS News that will specially focus on the Word Wizard will go to all parents on Wednesday, 21 October.
Although Term 4 starts on 2 November this year, we are already busy with academic work of week 2 of next term. Please do not keep your child/ren at home because you think that they are doing nothing at school. It is of vital importance for them to experience as much teaching time as possible.
You have the amended calendar for the rest of the year. Just a reminder of the colour groups for the first two weeks:

A sincere thank you to the parents who have paid their fees thus far. Your dedication to the future of your child's education is noted and appreciated. An appeal to those still owing, to please try your utmost to make a contribution of some sort towards the fees. All payments are dearly needed during this trying time.
A warm thank you to those parents who donated their contributions to our school. Your generosity is much appreciated.
Times for end of term 3:
Thursday, 22 October: 12:30
Friday, 23 October: 12:30

Have a very special holiday with your children. It is only a week, but make most of the time available and travel safely for those of you who plan to go away for the few days.

Be safe
REPS greetings
Mrs F Bröcker
