Parents/ Guardians, learners and friends…

After last night’s Address of the Nation by Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, you are well aware of the fact that schools will be closed for a lengthy period of time. Below you will find all the information from our school.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Rondebosch East Primary school will close on Wednesday 18 March. All learners will be dismissed at 11:00. Please ensure that the necessary arrangements are made for the safety and well-being of your child.

Schools will re-open on 14 April. (Please ignore the dates printed on the learner report.) The school holiday will therefore be a period of 4 weeks. It is imperative that you continue to stimulate your child and continue to consolidate work already covered by the educators. The June holidays will then be shortened by a week. It is not clear which week it will be at this point in time. We await further direction from WCED.

Reports will be issued to learners who are present at school on Wednesday (18 March).  In the event of your child being absent, the report will only be handed to the parent. Please do not send other family members to collect on your behalf. The report will not be issued. If you are not able to collect the report, the educator will issue it at the commencement of Term 2.
All text books must please be forwarded to the class educator.  Learners may use the WCED Blue Book at home and return it to school in Term 2.

VERY IMPORTANT: We will unfortunately not be able to go ahead with our MEET THE EDUCATOR meetings as scheduled for 17 March. We will more than likely reschedule for the second week of the new term (21 April as a possibility).  We will keep you informed in this regard.
We are in the process of making alternate arrangements with regards to scheduled camps or excursions for the month of April. Parents will be informed timeously.

At the end of this term we are also taking leave of four staff members: three educators and one non-teaching member of staff. We want to thank Mrs Ebrahim (10 years) and Mrs Manjoo (6 years) for sterling work done by them at Rondebosch East Primary. These two ladies are retiring at the end of this term. Ms Coetzee (3 years) is taking time off to investigate other opportunities. We wish them all of the best for their future endeavours. Mrs G Arendse – Secretary - (16 years) is leaving us to relocate with her entire family (a whole zoo included) to the UK.

It is with great sadness that we also want to inform you of the passing of the mother of Mrs A Arendse (Librarian) late yesterday evening. I want to appeal to our REPS family to keep her and her family in your prayers during this very difficult time in their lives.
Mr T Turner has under gone a procedure this morning and we want to wish him a speedy recovery and a good resting period.

To all our parents, please keep safe and keep all the hygiene suggestions in mind. Do not take any risks; it is not worth it.

REPS greetings to everybody
Mrs F Bröcker

I started karate at the age of 4.I am currently brown belt two stripes and need one more to be stripe to be black belt. I am the youngest to  go from brown belt to black belt. I have been invited to tournaments and had been successful at all of them. I have 1 golf trophy, 8 gold and 3 silver medals.
I want to make my family very proud.

On 7 & 8 February 2020, I participated in the District Central Chess Trials and I made it to the next trial round. The second trial round was on 13 & 14 March where I competed in the Western Province Cape Metro Closed Schools Chess Trials. I won 2 out of 4 games. Unfortunately, I did not make it to receive my colours. It has been a great opportunity and experience, even though a few of my opponents were extremely difficult to beat.

I will be back next year in 2021, to keep on competing and trying until I make the Western Province Chess Team. If you keep on giving up, you will stay at the bottom, but if you believe and stay true to yourself you will succeed and achieve your goals in life
