For the past two weeks the Gr R and Grade 6 learners joined the grade 7 learners at the school and it started to feel like school again. On Monday, 20 July, we welcome the Grade 1 learners back and on Monday 27 July, it is the turn of the Grade 2 and Grade 3 learners. The teachers of each of those grades will remind the parents about the drop off points and times as well as the collection points and times.
PLEASE notify us if you have not received any emails up to now so that we can sort out possible problems with email addresses (if you get this message on our web page).
We really want to plea with our parents to make sure that your children get collected on time as it causes serious problems when children are left behind. Please contact the school when you experience an emergency so that we can try to make special arrangements. If you make use of private transport for your child/children, the same rules apply.
The deadline for applications for exemption for our learners from school was Friday, 10 July. During this past week we have still received more applications which caused us to miss our deadline to load these applications for the WCED. I need to stress to our parents the importance of these applications. If you need these forms to be sent to you again, contact us at the latest on Monday, 20 July so that we can finalise our applications to the WCED.
The collection of the booklets has worked very well over the past two weeks. This coming Wednesday the work will again be made available by means of the workbooks. A note was sent to all parents on Friday.
Parents with children in more than one grade may collect all the necessary booklets at once.
I also want to bring it to the attention of all our parents that a staff member was tested positive during the past week. It came to our attention late Friday afternoon. The necessary protocol has and will continue to be followed during the week to come. This staff member has not been in direct contact with any learners. The areas for decontamination has also already been identified.
The rest of the staff members who have been absent due to isolation after having been in contact with people who tested positive are all back at school. We are very thankful for that.
