Parents/ Guardians, learners and friends…

Spring is definitely in the air. And the sun is rising earlier every day. Please let this energize both parents and children to attend school until the end of term.
There was an alarming drop in attendance numbers today after last week’s assessment cycle. I want to draw your attention to the following: this term has two weeks left; next term is only six weeks long of which roughly two weeks will be for the teaching of new work. Four weeks give 20 school days. That will be halved to 10 school days because of the Blue and Red system. One of these 10 days will be used to discuss the answer papers of the assessment cycle. That leaves all of us with only 9 teaching days. Can your child really afford to miss out on school?
Although we are on Level 1 of Lockdown, COVID 19 is NOT A THING OF THE PAST! We cannot afford to become complacent now. The parents must please keep on reminding their children about this, because we can see the more “relaxed attitudes” here at school.
  • Hugging and high fives are still forbidden actions.
  • The wearing of masks is still compulsory
  • Hand sanitizing must continue
  • Children must not be sent to school if you answered “YES” to any question on the screening tool. Medical advice must then be seeked.
School photos will be taken on 5 & 6 November 2020. These will all be individual photos. No group photos will be taken.

13 OCTOBER – Grades 1, 2 & 3: 15:30 – 17:00
14 OCTOBER – Grades 4 & 5:     15:30 – 16:30
                          SANITISING:       16:30 – 17:00
                           Grades 6 & 7:     17:00 – 18:00

A FEW REMINDERS (re the Word Wizard final rounds):
  • Learners must wear a school uniform (Summer or Winter – whichever one fits)
  • Parents must please complete the screening tools as far as possible and REMEMBER to bring it along. The temperatures will be measured and filled in at the school.
  • Allow some extra time for the screening – 10 to 15 minutes before the starting time.
  • Please remember to wear your masks. No entry will be allowed without masks.
As mentioned in the REPS News of last Thursday, the final date for the return of the Word Wizard Blue Lists has been postponed to Friday, 16 October. Let’s see if competition between the top classes and the top collectors can change the order that is shown in the table below.

Stay safe.
REPS greetings
