Principal News - Fall Festival Is Coming Soon!

RCE Parents & Friends-
It was truly a busy week at the Creek!
The library was the hub of numerous activities –
·        The Food Drive has been going on all this week to benefit the Food Pantry.  Our students did an awesome job as we collected over 2,000 food items.  The head lady at the Food Pantry assured us that our Sister School, Sherwood Elem., would benefit the most from our collections.  We appreciate everyone that sent and brought food to RCE.  Our friendly pick-up driver had to make 3 trips to pick up all the items.
·        The Library was also the place to go if you love books and reading.  Thousands of books were sold during the week of the Book Fair.  Students left smiling with much reading to look forward to.  Karen Harrell has already spent $1,000 of the profit on new books for the Library based on student and teacher’s requests.  Thanks to everyone that took advantage of this event.
·        In addition, PTA helped us host our very first “Special Friends” event.  Numerous Grandparents came up to school on Thursday to read, enjoy a muffin, play a game or work a puzzle with a student or child in their family.  We enjoyed seeing not only the grandparents, but also former teachers and parents.  This is an event that may need to be repeated next year.  A big thank you to our Watch Dogs and PTA helpers that made this event possible.
·        Another highlight of the week was Parent/Teacher Conferences.  The RCE staff and I realize how important this type of communications is to the growth and learning for each of our students.  Your feedback is always valued as we plan the path of learning for each student.  I continue to be proud of this RCE staff.  I believe their dedication and love for our students is apparent in their teaching and conversations on a daily basis.  I am blessed to be a part of this wonderful school and community.
·        I am looking forward to seeing you at the Fall Festival on Nov. 2.  There are so many activities, games, food and people to see and enjoy.
·        This week is Red Ribbon Week.  This is a time to focus on the choices we make to keep our bodies and minds healthy.

Red Ribbon Week at RCE

Red Ribbon Week is October 22-26, 2018. "Healthy Choices are the key to a great future!"

Red Ribbon Week is a campaign created to raise awareness and promote prevention of alcohol and drugs. It is a time devoted to teaching children an important lesson: to say "NO" to unhealthy choices and "YES" to a healthy lifestyle, including good character traits and healthy choices.

Join us in supporting and demonstrating our commitment to a healthy lifestyle.

Monday: Team up against unhealthy choices: wear your favorite team's jersey.
Tuesday: Sock it to unhealthy choices: wear crazy socks.
Wednesday: Don't get tied up with unhealthy choices: wear mismatched clothes.
Thursday: Proud to make healthy choices: wear RED.
*** Spirit Rally Pre K - 2 from 1-2 pm; 3rd - 5th from 2-3p ***
Friday: Our school chooses healthy choices: wear RCE school attire/college colors

  1. Be on the lookout for an email from your room mom this week about volunteering for a shift at the festival. Every class has been assigned a booth to work and your room mom will be sending you info about what we need from your class.
  1. The Cake Walk Donations, Confetti Egg Contest, Pumpkin Decorating Contest and Stuffed Animal Drive will all be happening again this year.  Start collecting your confetti eggs and stuffed animals and drop them off at the front of the school anytime between now and Oct 31st.  Be creative and have fun making a pumpkin with your child(ren) and enter to win the Pumpkin contest!  Winners will be announced the week of the Festival. – Stay tuned for flyers with more information.

Thank you for your help and support of this event.  We can’t do this without you!

RCE Watchdogs General Store Sign Up

RCE Watchdogs will be managing the General Store once again. This is how we get funding through the PTA so please sign up for an hour or longer to help manage and sell at the General Store. It is super easy all you need to do is have fun and take tickets for each of the items. We will need 6-8 volunteers for each hour during the festival. Plus set up and take down.

So pick a couple of slots and sign up, then wear your WatchDog T-shirt and come out and help.

Also we will need 6 guys to help the night before with inflating the inflatables. This is done at my house and cold beverages are provided.

Fall Festival - "RCE Rally" Sponsorship Opportunity

Dear Rummel Creek Elementary Families

For over 50 years, Rummel Creek Elementary has been both a cornerstone of our Memorial area community and a magnet for families who are drawn by its tradition of academic excellence.  Our annual Fall Festival event is scheduled for Friday, November 2, 2018, on the playground of our school.

With state funding declining, we depend on PTA fundraisers, such as this event, to allow us to provide the highest quality education possible for our children.  We are very proud and fortunate to have extremely generous families that understand the value of investing in our community and our school. Your contribution and participation is pivotal to the success of our school.

We invite you to be a part of our wonderful event by sponsoring an inflatable, booth, or raffle item.  Your family will be acknowledged for your generosity.

Rummel Creek PTA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

If you have any questions or would like to donate, please contact Jenn Terveen at to sponsor a booth or Mary Dominguez at to donate a raffle item.

We appreciate your consideration and support of Rummel Creek Elementary and look forward to spending this evening of fun with you and your family.
