RCE Parents and Friends,
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break. You need to know that our fabulous PTA does such a great job of remembering us throughout the year.  This past holiday they provided every RCE employee with a pie to share with their families at Thanksgiving.  We all feel blessed to work in a school where our parents and students love and appreciate what we do.
It is hard to believe that November is behind us and Christmas Holidays are 3 weeks away.  Our students are glad to be back in school and they settled quickly back into the learning routines.  Fourth grade is working hard to present the best ever Nutcracker program on Dec. 13.  This program is a wonderful event that gives us all a time to celebrate the holidays and the spirit of Christmas through the eyes of our children.
Our RCE custodians work long hours keeping our school organized and clean.  Again this year we will be collecting coins for custodians.  If you wish to contribute, please bring or send your coins to RCE before Wed Dec. 20.  The RCE staff and I appreciate all you do in support of us and students learning.

Sister School - Angel Tree gifts and Christmas Store Volunteers

Happy Holidays from the Sister School committee!

We hope you can help make the holiday great for families both in our community as well as at Sherwood Elementary. Our Angel Tree will be set up in the RCE lobby beginning tomorrow Monday, December 3rd. Please stop by to pick out an ornament designated for a family in need.
Once you have picked up an ornament, sign it out next to the tree and shop for your item(s). Place the items in a gift bag and attach the ornament to the bag. Please bring the gifts to the front office of RCE by end of school day on Wednesday, December 12th so that we can deliver the gifts in time for the holiday break.
Thank you for helping make the holidays special for these families!
If you have any questions or would like a Sister School committee member to pick an ornament for you please contact
Allison Cattan 281-216-3320 or
Audra Marye 832-577-5003.

Sherwood Christmas Store- gift wrap volunteers needed!

Keep the Car Rider Line Moving
With over 220 cars rolling through car rider line every morning between 7:20-7:55 am you can imagine the safety concerns. This is why we installed this carpool drop off sign. Please help us keep our kids safe and the carpool line moving by WAITING until you pass this sign before you let your kids out of the car.
Most parents either let their kids out before they reach the carpool drop off sign because you as a parent think you are helping speed up the process or you are trying to exit the carpool lane faster.  Please understand that these actions create two situations that actually cause slow downs instead of speeding up the process!  It also creates huge safety concerns!  When you move into the left lane and speed out of the lot it causes a back up for everyone else trying to exit as well as making it more dangerous for those kids still trying to get out of their cars.  When you wait until you pass this Carpool Drop Off sign it keeps the flow of cars moving in the drop off line through the drive area onto Brittmoore at a very consistent speed.

Rules of Carpool Drop Off:
1. Wait until you pass the Car Rider drop off sign (Picture below)
2. Do not speed down the left lane to get out

These 2 actions will tremendously help the traffic to not back up for everyone who is trying to get out of the school drive area onto Brittmoore. This will also keep your kids safe and it will keep you moving!!!  Thanks for your help!  Please spread the word.
