Principal News
Rummel Creek students and staff had a productive and busy week.  Here’s a peek,

  • Monday RCE was recognized at the school board meeting as one of 11 healthiest schools
  • One of our parents, Jon Rice, was also recognized Monday night for all the work he does with students to help them learn more about science and historical events at RCE and Sherwood.  Jon is truly worthy of the title ‘I Am SBISD’.
  • Go Gold Week raised $1,671.74 to help fight childhood cancer.  Thanks to all who contributed.
  • CSHAC met to discuss ways to increase wellness opportunities for staff & families.
  • We enjoyed delicious PIZZA as a recognition of the high number of RCE contributions to SBEF.
  • Chick-Fil-A Night was enjoyed by many even though it was a soggy night. Thanks for coming.
  • We had our first Campus Improvement Team meeting on Thursday.  This is a great group who will give us feedback about RCE achievement, needed changes, and the positives we should celebrate. We appreciate their time.
  • A number of parents are beginning to come up to school for teacher conferences.  This is important time for both parties to share and plan for methods to help each child achieve more than they ever thought possible.
  • Did you know that one of our RCE dads, Brady Burgett, rented an 18 wheeler to take over 100 boxes of donated items to some Hurricane victims in North Carolina.  Many families brought in clothing, toys, books and linens for Brady to give to these families.  Our students wrote sweet notes to go into the boxes.  So many of them shared that they still remember just how it feels to be a hurricane victim.  It was such a wonderful way for us to give back.  Thanks to those of you that donated.  A big shout out to Brady for his unselfish act.

There is never a day that goes by that I don’t take the time to feel blessed to work at such a great school with caring staff, precious children and supportive parents.

RCE Fields Update... Getting Close!

After kicking off Project Rebar in June to upgrade the RCE fields for the safety and enjoyment of the children and our community, the project is progressing well. The project included removing construction debris, installing an irrigation system and laying new field turf...all of the recent rain is really helping the new turf take root!

Although the RCE fields have been closed since Project Rebar kicked off, we are getting close to being able to open up the fields during school hours and on the weekends. Currently, we are targeting Monday, October 15 to open the fields back up.  We will release an announcement when it is officially open.  A BIG thank to everyone for their patience as we ensure the new field turf has had time to grow and take root, ensuring its longevity.

Special Friends Day at the Book Fair

Special Friends Day at the RCE Book Fair will be the morning of Thursday, October 18th. This is a fun event where children can invite grandparents, aunts, uncles, or special friends (other than parents) to share in the experience of the Book Fair. A light breakfast will be provided and the Book Fair will be open for all to enjoy! Times are based on your child’s last name. A-M will begin at 8:30 and N-Z will begin at 9:30. Please use the link to electronically register your child and their special friend by October 12th.

If possible, have your Special Friend stop by RCE at an earlier date to have them added to our check-in system. Everyone that is already in the system will have their sticker preprinted and be able to avoid the check in line.

Sherwood Staff Appreciation Luncheon

We are so excited to host a staff appreciation luncheon for the amazing staff at Sherwood. Sherwood is our sister school and is located just a few miles from RCE north of the freeway.
The Sherwood staff doesn't have monthly luncheon, so this will be a fun treat!

The luncheon will be held on Friday, October 12th.

We will cater the food and provide homemade desserts.

Please see the attached SignUp Genius for volunteer opportunities. We are looking for monetary donations to cover the cost of food, decorations and paper goods as well as homemade desserts and people who are available to help set up/decorate, replenish food and clean up.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks so much,
Audra Marye and Allison Cattan
