Greetings RCE Families-
What a day Thursday turned out to be as the rains came down – 9/19/19! By 3:00 we had checked out about 336 students! Thanks for: letting us know if you were going to be late, persisting to get through to us on the phone, waiting patiently in that long line to check out your child, and for helping take care of not just your children but several children whose parents were stuck in their offices.  Of course our incredible RCE teachers continued instruction, working with students and talking about their learning reflections though out the day.  Students were aware of the rain but they were more interested in what was happening in their classroom.  I continue to be thankful for the wonderful RCE Staff.
A special thanks to our amazing front office who stayed calm in the midst of chaos. Our counselor and nurses were right there with us to make clinic visitors comfortable and assist in calming a few nerves.
Kudos also to our Asst. Principals Fontenot and Dwyer who helped me go classroom by classroom to check on student transportation, pull students to meet up with parents and answer numerous questions.
An extra measure of gratitude to Katrina Harrison  and the cafeteria staff who made sure every student that needed lunch was fed.  And they even made sure that students who were waiting for buses and parents had a snack while they were waiting.
On Saturday when I came by the school to check on the building, I found our custodians hard at work making sure all the classrooms and hallways were in tip top shape for school on Monday.  The AC was still not functioning properly due to the storm power surge.  But they were helping each other get the job done so the building would look perfect on Monday.
Enjoy this beautiful sunny Sunday.
