Principal News - Fall Festival Is Coming Soon!

This annual event is one of my favorites.  It helps provide for numerous materials and learning opportunities through the PTA budget. There are so many ways you can help contribute your time, money and talent.  You can work in a booth, make baked goodies, donate confetti eggs, donate stuffed animals or compete in our pumpkin decorating contest as well as help set up or clean up and of course buy lots of tickets so you and your family can also enjoy this fun fall time.  I look forward to seeing you on Nov. 2.

Our annual Fall Festival is right around the corner.  We hope you are as excited as we are for November 2nd!  Our committee has been working hard over the past several months to secure new games and food to make this event even better than last year.  You wont want to miss it!  Here are a couple of things we want you to know.

All pre orders are due no later than Wednesday, October 24th
    Questions??? Email Mary Dominguez –
  1. Be on the lookout for an email from your room mom this week about volunteering for a shift at the festival. Every class has been assigned a booth to work and your room mom will be sending you info about what we need from your class.
  1. The Cake Walk Donations, Confetti Egg Contest, Pumpkin Decorating Contest and Stuffed Animal Drive will all be happening again this year.  Start collecting your confetti eggs and stuffed animals and drop them off at the front of the school anytime between now and Oct 31st.  Be creative and have fun making a pumpkin with your child(ren) and enter to win the Pumpkin contest!  Winners will be announced the week of the Festival. – Stay tuned for flyers with more information.

Thank you for your help and support of this event.  We can’t do this without you!

RCE Watchdogs General Store Sign Up

RCE Watchdogs will be managing the General Store once again. This is how we get funding through the PTA so please sign up for an hour or longer to help manage and sell at the General Store. It is super easy all you need to do is have fun and take tickets for each of the items. We will need 6-8 volunteers for each hour during the festival. Plus set up and take down.

So pick a couple of slots and sign up, then wear your WatchDog T-shirt and come out and help.

Also we will need 6 guys to help the night before with inflating the inflatables. This is done at my house and cold beverages are provided.

Fall Festival - "RCE Rally" Sponsorship Opportunity

Dear Rummel Creek Elementary Families

For over 50 years, Rummel Creek Elementary has been both a cornerstone of our Memorial area community and a magnet for families who are drawn by its tradition of academic excellence.  Our annual Fall Festival event is scheduled for Friday, November 2, 2018, on the playground of our school.

With state funding declining, we depend on PTA fundraisers, such as this event, to allow us to provide the highest quality education possible for our children.  We are very proud and fortunate to have extremely generous families that understand the value of investing in our community and our school. Your contribution and participation is pivotal to the success of our school.

We invite you to be a part of our wonderful event by sponsoring an inflatable, booth, or raffle item.  Your family will be acknowledged for your generosity.

Rummel Creek PTA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

If you have any questions or would like to donate, please contact Jenn Terveen at to sponsor a booth or Mary Dominguez at to donate a raffle item.

We appreciate your consideration and support of Rummel Creek Elementary and look forward to spending this evening of fun with you and your family.

Fall Festival Decorations Help

Our Fall Festival decoration team is in search of old jerseys, cheerleading uniforms and pom poms they can use this year to decorate with.  They can be any sport, any color, any size, any team (Sbmsa, Kingdom, MDUMC, HS, College, Pro) and any condition.  Please know you might not want them back as they will have been outside for 2 weeks.  If you have something you are willing to donate contact Mary Kathryn Aston at

PTA Membership Still Needed!

Add:  PTA Membership Still NEEDED!
We still need you to join the PTA! The Rummel Creek PTA receives awards based on an increase in membership. We want to show our district, state, and community that we have a strong PTA.

You can simply click here: to join - it is $6.00 for individual and $12.00 for the family. You don't have to go to any meetings....though we would love it if you did. And if you are a Watch Dog - would love 100% participation. (Some people do not think to join their spouse - consider that, as well)

We have the best PTA so Let the RCE PTA get the awards it deserves - click and join!

Here is some additional information from the Texas PTA President:
The 2019 legislative session is just around the corner, and this is especially significant because #EveryMemberCounts when we advocate making every child’s potential a reality at the Capitol. Adequate school funding and keeping our students safe on campuses are of great importance to all of us, and we want to send a powerful message to our legislators.
For the love of the Road Runners, Whitney Vanderslice (PTA Membership Chair)

Special Friends Day at the Book Fair

Special Friends Day at the RCE Book Fair will be the morning of Thursday, October 18th. This is a fun event where children can invite grandparents, aunts, uncles, or special friends (other than parents) to share in the experience of the Book Fair. A light breakfast will be provided and the Book Fair will be open for all to enjoy! Times are based on your child’s last name. A-M will begin at 8:30 and N-Z will begin at 9:30. Please use the link to electronically register your child and their special friend by October 12th.

If possible, have your Special Friend stop by RCE at an earlier date to have them added to our check-in system. Everyone that is already in the system will have their sticker preprinted and be able to avoid the check in line.

RCE Fields Update... Getting Close!

Wow, Thanks for your patience and understanding. The Ball fields will be opening on Oct 15th for after school and weekend play. We will be setting the Soccer goals out soon and you can go out and play. We do ask that you hold off on all organized sports teams play/practice until the spring as we have always stated. This is when we will have an online scheduler so you can schedule dedicated time for the fields’ usage for your team. The grass is growing in nicely but still needs love and care. Our contractor is working weekly to make sure it all looks great and is useful and safe. We do expect it to go dormant just like your grass at home once the temps drop so it will not stay green all winter long but should be ready to go in the spring.

Until then feel free to go out and play with your friends and your kids and enjoy the fields. It would be great to see pictures posted on any of the RCE facebook pages showing everyone having fun out there. We know the kids are excited to be able to play ball sports during recess and the teachers are happy for that as well. Have fun and thanks again for your patience, hopefully you will agree it is well worth it.
