Dear fellow wine lovers,
I hope you all had a restful, rejuvenating break and that you, like me, don't believe in dry January. ;-)
After a year having focused mostly on Greek and Italian virtual wine tastings, I've started the year off by adding some new wines to my new, improved web shop and creating a new discovery box for Portugal. (Shout-out and thanks to my son Carlo for the design and development!).
For those who've developed a taste for Greek and Sardinian wines, don't worry! I've also created new sampler sets for Santorini, the Peloponnesus, Nemea and Sardinia.
Each box is intended as the basis for a new series of wine region-themed virtual wine tastings in recognition of the fact that even if a COVID-19 vaccine exists, it may well be months before we've all received one. Later this year I intend to add new wines, discovery boxes and wine tastings--virtual or otherwise--for Crete, Belgium, Macedonia, Sicily and Germany.
The Portuguese virtual wine tastings will exclusively feature full-bodied red wines (see below) and will take place every other Thursday starting the 21st of January (then the 4th of February and 18th of February), each time from 19:30-21:30.
The line-up for the Portuguese Reds tasting includes wines from several different regions including Alentejo, Tejo, Lisbon and Douro and grape varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesca and Tinto Roriz to Trincadeira. The wines are Cabriz's Touriga Nacional, José Maria Fonseca's Periquita Reserva and Domini Plus, Bacalhão's Tinto da Anfora and Quinta dos Quatro Ventos and Cabeça de Toiro's Reserva. Full details of each wine are available on my web shop on their individual product pages.
To join the virtual wine tastings, just order the Portuguese Reds Discovery Box by the 15th of January on my web shop and I will send you the invitations to the wine tastings. You can either pick up the wine (free) in Uccle or I can send it to you. (If you miss the deadline and want to join later, call me and we will try to find a solution!)
Depending on how things go in January and February, dates for subsequent tastings will be announced in February for March, April and May.
I hope to see you at a tasting again soon!
