Aircraft Maintenance and Avionics
ADS-B Solutions Installation Deadline 1/1/2020

TIME IS RUNNING OUT!The January 1, 2020 deadline for all aircraft to be equipped with ADS-B Solutions is fast approaching! ADS-B Solutions enhances efficiency and safety for everyone throughout aviation, from private pilots to airlines and controllers. Aircraft equipped with ADS-B are capable to transmit location, speed, altitude and identification information to Air Traffic Control, as well as other ADS-B Solutions equipped aircraft. This improved information is the most accurate in the industry and is required for flight into and around most airfields. Does your aircraft need ADS-B Solutions installed? The Ohio State Airport Avionics Department has multiple options to get your aircraft equipped. Solutions range per aircraft, budget and compliance need. There is an ADS-B Solutions option for any budget or aircraft. By scheduling your aircraft now, you will avoid growing backlog, component shortage delays, and yearly vendor-price increases on the components. Delay in installation may result in the grounding of your aircraft causing revenue loss or missed opportunities. To schedule your install, call the aircraft maintenance department at  614-292-5135 or email jenkins.1042@osu.edu.
Youth Aviation Adventure Squadron 1 holds fall program

Youth Aviation Adventure's (YAA) longest-serving squadron held its Fall 2018 event in late September.  Squadron 1, located at The Ohio State University Airport (KOSU) since 1997, staged another well-received and informative event, hosting nearly 75 Boy Scouts and youth for the half-day long program covering numerous aspects of aviation knowledge and careers.

Many thanks go to Squadron 1 co-commanders Sam Sahlin and Melanie Dickman, the staff and volunteers of The Ohio State University Airport, Ohio State Flight Education, and YAA’s dedicated corps of volunteers, many of whom have been with the program from its inception, for their unwavering support of YAA’s mission to introduce youth to the many facets of aviation and aviation careers.

The next YAA event scheduled at the Ohio State Airport is on May 11 from 9 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.  Check the YAA website this spring for registration information
