Explaining “what we do” as communications professionals can be a bit of a challenge, even for the industry experts we are!

In this issue of The Elmore Edition, we take a look at Elmore PR’s firm services and all we have to offer our clients. How can we help YOUR business next?

The Many Hats of a PR Pro
Public Relations is so much more than writing press releases! (We’re really good at that, by the way.) PR is all about telling our clients’ stories in the most positive, engaging, and strategic ways possible.

But first things first.  At the start of any client relationship (and in regular intervals from then on) we strive to understand the heart of our client’s goals and how they envision success. To achieve that insight, our process includes strategic planning sessions with our clients to establish objectives and then build a foundation of strategies and tactics to meet those communications milestones.

From there, it is time to hit the ground running using a customized combination of tactics from our PR “tool box” - all in coordination with an organization’s established brand, voice, and goals.  Let's take a look.

Five Reasons You Should Book a Media Training Session with Elmore PR
Did you know that Media Training is one of Elmore PR’s core areas of expertise? With nearly 30 years of experience in media communications, Elmore PR has developed a proprietary, effective training which can benefit every business, large or small. Here’s why:
  1. It’s not always the spokesperson who’s speaking. Yes, your company may route media inquiries to the communications department but often you’ll connect a reporter with a subject matter expert whose expertise is likely NOT in speaking with the media. Our media training will teach them how to make their message media-friendly AND get them comfortable in an interview setting.
  2. Practice makes… more perfect. Even for seasoned communicators, media interviews can be intimidating. Take a fresh look at your key messages and practice your delivery techniques in the supportive setting of our media training. You’ll practice your skills and even pick up a new trick or two. It’s great professional development for new communications team members, too.
  3. Media training isn’t only for media interviews! It may be a bit of a misnomer, but media training also is excellent presentation training for executives and subject matter experts who address groups at industry events or meetings of local organizations. It may not be a news reporter you’re talking to, but you’ll still need poise and polish delivering your message and when responding to questions from your audience.
  4. Private sessions cater to your specific messages and needs. Unlike large group presentation or public speaking courses open to the public, Elmore PR’s media trainings are tailor-made for your small group. Up to six participants will practice real-life scenarios crafted specifically for your business in an intimate setting of their peers, creating a safe space for critique and discourse.
  5. There’s no time like the present. You never know when a media opportunity may come your way, or when you might be called to respond to media coverage during a business crisis. Keep your message delivery skills sharp by booking your training today, before an immediate need!

The lazy days of summer have not slowed down our clients!
To highlight Brookfield Properties as a thoughtful leader within downtown Houston’s commercial real estate market, Elmore PR pitched the Houston Chronicle an exclusive opportunity to speak with Travis Overall, Executive Vice President and Head of the Texas Region for Brookfield Properties.

As a result of Elmore PR’s strategic outreach, the Houston Chronicle conducted an in-depth Q&A with Travis in which he discussed Brookfield Properties’ long-term commitment to downtown, why the city remains so resilient, and his thoughts on how landlords can prepare for their employees’ post-pandemic return to the office. The story appeared online and in print.

Building off a previously shared press release, Elmore PR continued to coordinate with the editor of Healthcare Design Magazine to finalize and execute a feature placement on Legacy Community Health Southwest Clinic in the publication's June/July issue, which was focusing on the topic of equity and diversity in design.

We worked with our client, Perkins&Will, as well as their client, Legacy Community Health, to tell the compelling design story behind the facility. The clinic resides in a neighborhood where residents may originate from some 80 different countries. Designers pulled their inspiration from these various regions of the world with remarkable and meaningful results. You can read the full article with all the in-depth details here
One of Elmore PR’s main roles with our Harris County Flood Control District client involves supporting and managing virtual community engagement meetings on flood risk mitigation projects throughout Harris County.

The Harris County Flood Control District recently hosted a virtual Community Engagement Meeting to inform residents in NW Houston about the status of the Grand Parkway at Clay Stormwater Detention Basin.

This link will take you to a meeting summary, presentation and the virtual meeting video. We invite you to click around on the Flood Control District website to learn more about what projects may be happening in your area!
This November 11-14, Nutcracker Market triumphantly returns to NRG Center to usher in Houston’s holiday season and celebrate in-person and in style for the 40th Anniversary Nutcracker Market – The Redo.

Even though Nutcracker Market isn’t until November, Elmore PR has been working on media prep throughout the summer. We sent out our first announcement confirming the in-person market is a go on August 2, and we were thrilled to receive pickup from several local media outlets, including a great write-up in the Houston Chronicle announcing the festivities.  Take a look here!
Meet the Team
This summer, Elmore PR was lucky to welcome Grace O'Leary as our intern.  Grace just graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio and will begin her Masters in PR & Corporate Communications at Georgetown University in the fall. Grace has embraced the unique situation of an internship in this ongoing work-from-home world and we have loved her enthusiasm and creativity as she has completed projects for many of our clients as well as our own internal brand team.

What motivates you at work? I am most motivated by seeing the results of my accomplishments. I love looking at a project I spent time on and being able to see that it touched someone’s life in a way that felt rewarding and meaningful.
What is your go-to midnight snack/favorite food? Definitely TCBY’s cotton candy frozen yogurt! It is so creamy and refreshing, especially after a long summer day.
What is your favorite holiday?  My favorite holiday will always be Christmas. I love all of the family memories attached, such as decorating the tree and drinking hot cocoa on Christmas Eve. All of my family comes in from out of town, so it’s always special to see everyone and spend time together!
This or That - Pizza or Taco?
I have to go with pizza. It’s cheesy, cheap, and delicious! Any place that offers delivery is winning in my book, so pizza checks all the boxes!
