Pakihi Toitū o Kāpiti - Sustainable Businesses coming soon!

We are nearly ready to launch Pakihi Toitū o Kāpiti - Sustainable Businesses, an online resource and network to support businesses in the environmental sustainability space.

This has been established following business consultation in February 2022 where it was identified that local businesses would benefit from a simple and local place to access tools and information to support their business journey toward a lower emissions footprint.

Conscious business is the future and the Kāpiti Coast wants to be leading the way in this area. Watch this space for the launch, more information and how your business can be involved.

Council announces Major Events Fund recipients

Seven events leveraging the Kāpiti Coast’s unique terrain and strengths in culture, creativity and kai will receive support through the Kāpiti Coast District Council’s 2022 Major Event Fund.

The Major Events Fund is a key lever of the Kāpiti Coast Destination Management Plan.

The events that have been awarded funding are: Congratulations to all the successful event managers who have overcome some very trying times in the industry over the last couple of years, and continue to produce events that add to the vibrancy of our district.

Applications now open for Waste Reduction projects

The Waste Levy Grants aim to increase the range, scale and number of waste minimisation activities on the Kāpiti Coast.

A fund pool of $10,000 is available for business waste reduction projects in 2022/23.

The fund is intended for existing businesses to implement measures that will lead to long-term and measurable minimisation of waste from the business’ operations.

This might include reducing waste at source, and the reuse, recycling and recovery of materials for further use or processing.

Waste minimisation projects that are encouraged include:

  • organic waste
  • construction and demolition waste
  • projects that fill a gap within current waste services in Kāpiti

Have your say on a community land trust for Kāpiti
Kāpiti Coast District Council want your thoughts on establishing an independent community land trust (CLT) that, along with Council, can work with iwi partners and other organisations to deliver affordable housing outcomes.

It’s a critical time for Kāpiti to decide what housing future it wants to see.
Council's recent Housing Needs Assessment showed that a lack of housing options in our district means people are increasingly becoming stuck in unsuitable accommodation, being pushed out of their communities, or are left without access to any accommodation.

Fill in the survey to have your say. Consultation closes 9 July.
