Celebrating business
There's a lot to celebrate in the coming months with a record number of entries for the Electra Business Awards. Congratulations to those who have made the effort to enter in what has been a challenging time for business.
As we head into spring and summer our local event businesses are gearing up for a bumper season after a couple of years of cancellations and postponements. These events need support to keep our community vibrant - if you are interested in becoming a sponsor check out our local events page and get in touch with them to find out about the many benefits of sponsorship.

Sustainable business in Kāpiti
Two weeks ago we launched Pakihi Toitū o Kāpiti. We’ve had a great response, with more than twenty businesses registered so far.
Pakihi Toitū o Kāpiti is about making local connections to build a supportive and inspiring network where you can learn about environmental sustainability in business, and work together to achieve your goals.
A good example of this working in practice is Dark Horse Coffee. Their beans arrive on pallets, and then the used pallets get picked up by The Shed Project to be repurposed as building materials and products to sell in the community.
To join the network fill out the form and we will be in touch about possible next steps for your sustainability journey.

Wellington Regional Skills Leadership Group
The WRSLG presented its first regional workforce plan to Kāpiti Coast stakeholders at Whakarongotai Marae in Waikanae on Wednesday. Co-chairs of the group Daphne Luke and Glenn Barclay outlined the purpose and work of the group so far - finding ways to better meet the region’s future labour market and workforce needs.
Attendees were shown the main features of the Plan relating to the Kāpiti Coast. “We work in partnership for a skilled and inclusive workforce doing quality work to cultivate innovation, prosperity and resilience for all in our region," says Co-chair Glenn Barclay.
The Kāpiti Coast Workforce Plan was adopted by Council in February this year and the Economic Development Team has liaised with the WRSLG representative at MBIE to ensure the two plans align and support each other.
More will be announced over coming months about initiatives under the Kāpiti Coast Plan.
